Brilliant in places4
"Repercussions" sees Distance doing pretty much the same thing as he did on his previous album, "My Demons". Which is no bad thing - Distance is a master of creating a "city-at-night" vibe. However, the in-your-face, harder-edged tracks on this album are, on the whole, weaker and less interesting than the more atmospheric works such as "Free Me", "Loosen My Grip", "Mirror Tell" and "Sending Chills" which are equal to Burial at his best. So, not all of the album works, but when you consider that the album is backed with another full-length CD of Distance's "Chestplate" singles, then buying this becomes a bit of a no-brainer. If you're unfamiliar though, don't expect him to be another Burial - Distance is a bit more metal than that, and shares as much common ground with Shackleton and Appleblim.

Menacing, haunting and agressive. ***** if thats what you wanted.5
I think this album from distance is fantastic.

where others may describe this new disc as samey, i would call it tight and consolidated. its like a patchwork of influences sown together with Distance's unique percussive techniques and off-tone instrumentation which can make you feel both powerful and scared at the same time.

the album roughly splits in half in my opinion:

tracks like out of mind, loosen my grip and mirror tell have the power to send chills around your body and haunt your soul.

this is as apposed to tracks like skeleton grin, koncrete and magnesium which are intimidating with thier pulsing and pumping agression.

best listened to at night with no lights on, or driving/walking around at night in a well lit area such as a city centre.

I find everything about this album inspiring.

in conclusion:

a very tight, catchy and yet again menacing release from dj Distance.
