Manufacturer's Description
This CD has been written and designed by the very people who conduct these tests every day for companies, universities and careers advisers. The program takes you, step by step through one test at a time. You will find the whole range of multiple choice and short answer tests used in business today.
As you work through each test your results will be stored – out of your sight! And as soon as you have completed a test the programme will immediately give you your results and analysis.
What are Psychometric Tests?
Psychometric tests are standardised, scientific tests – usually taken on a computer, which are used to assess your intelligence, abilities, potential and personality. Most employers now use them as a sifting mechanism during the recruitment process.
Make sure you get that job!
Employers use these tests – and 50% of the candidates fail
More and more companies are using psychometric tests before deciding who to invite back for an in-depth interview. And over 50% of the people who take them, fail them. This could be you – not because you don’t have the intelligence, the aptitude or the knowledge – but simply because you don’t have the test-taking skills required.
Get on the right track - test technique is crucial
The most valuable preparation is getting to know the different sorts of questions and test formats. Then practice will improve your reasoning skills and give a big boost to your confidence. Through practice and the advice on this CD you will know that there is often more than one way to crack a question. You will also learn to recognise the same test when it is presented differently – using shapes instead of numbers, for example. When you don’t know – guess. Answer the questions you find easiest first.
Realise your full potential. Create more time – earn more marks
Psychometric tests are always against the clock. The more questions you answer the higher your potential mark. If you immediately recognise the type of question and know how to tackle it you will save precious minutes others around you are spending trying to understand what to do. This is the greatest advantage the Psychometric Tests Volume 1 gives you. Time to show what you are actually capable of.
Customer Reviews
Psychometric Tests Volume One
Quick installation(compatible with Windows XP, NT, Me, 98 and 95). I have had no problems with installation and running the program. Infact I am currently online after testing out the program - while I write this review! The interface is well designed and colourful. Basically questions are asked (according to the settings) and using the mouse you are required to select the appropriate answer. At the end of a session feedback is provided. The setting allow you to select which test you wish to try and if it is timed and how long. There is the facility to allow multiple users to save their progress as the proceed through the program.
If you want a program to test you then this is it - it has some introduction but it is not an online book.
Deja Vu!
I bought this CD because I wanted lots of tests of verbal reasoning and most books don't seem to give a lot of tests for the money. Sadly, I feel ripped off; having done four VR tests I have seen one comprehension passage three times and another twice! I have also had similar numbers of repeats on the sentence analysis questions.
I suspect that the "hundreds of questions" apply to the, simpler, word analysis questions. Back to the books for me!
Could do better
No problems with installation or running the software on XP. My concern is that I have only been using the program a short time and already I have found a mistake.
Does a toaster really work by producing UV waves? I don't think so, but The Times does. Why can't they get this stuff right?
No confidence in this product.
