Amazon.co.uk Review
Just as the new film is a great improvement on the already solid original, so too is Spider-Man 2: The Movie (the game) a significant improvement on previous video game simulations of New York's friendly neighbourhood web-slinger.

As you'd expect, the new game works along the same basic lines as the last one but is actually a very noble attempt to completely expand the concept and the way it's implemented. The biggest change is the that the game is now much more free-form, rather than being strictly mission based, and you can swing around New York City all you like, getting involved in side quests (such as stopping minor robberies) before getting around to the wider plot.

The actual business of web-slinging has been greatly improved so that your webbing now actually connects with buildings, instead of just attaching to thin air, and so the whole business of getting around the city becomes more "realistic". The combat system has also been completely overhauled, although it's still fair to say that the interior levels are far less entertaining than bouncing around New York and getting involved in aerial scraps.

The game realises this though and the majority of the action now takes place outside as you not only follow the plot of the movie, taking on main bad guy Dr Octopus, but also tackling some of Spidey's other villains from the comic books, including the Vulture, Rhino and Shocker--as well as meeting alternative love interest Black Cat. Hopefully someday all comic book games will be this good.--David Jenkins

look its spiderman!3
Wow! Another spiderman game! There have been alot of spiderman games in the past but this is one of the best!I know its a bit wierd me putting down a three star rating and then saying its great,so i'll explain.I have played almost all the spiderman games on the gameboy and other consoles but when I heard the spiderman movie game was coming out I went out and bought a gamecube.By time i'd saved enough money to get on e the 2nd one came out so I borrowed that off a friend of mine.I went home and immediatly started playing, but to be honest I wasnt to impressed. The gameplay is good and the lengh of time it takes you to complete it is reasonable, but what I was so disapointed about was the graphics! the graphics look like a ps1 plus when your talking to someone spiderman won't stop talking and so you can't hear your mission. Not only that but in the middle of fights it takes ages to beat the guys up unless you do a combo wich by the way are so long that you have to keep pausing and looking. If you want a good play then buy spiderman 2 (the origanal) on ps1, the graphics arnt great but you cant complain about that cos its on playstation 1, but the gameplays better, the controls are more simple (considering the amount of moves) and theres always a change of scenery.Where as in the new one, your just swinging and punching different peaple all the way through the game. And if not that, your timed to swing to a flashing dot on your screen.

Fantastic5
This is the single best game i have ever played and trust me i've played alot. The second i put it in the console i was hooked. It is the only film based game i have been on that actually followed the storyline and added some cool bits to keep you interested. The whole swinging around new york thing is very trickey to begin with but when you get the hang of it you can pull off some sweet moves. The freeedom you get in this game from flying around new york where you please is very satisfying and unlike most games where you have to follow a certain path.
in short i love this game.

Buy this game - Awesome5
This game is by far the best game I have ever played. I know that is a bold statement but its awesome. Short of the fact you can go anywhere is NY and swing off anything (inc helicopters to the statue of liberty) the range of missions and challenges are mind-blowing. Aside from the main game story line there are 200 hint markers to be found, 4 sets of tokens to be found(150 x skyscraper, 50 x hideout etc) and a host of target based missions that range from easy swinging to a point to racing across the whole island while wall sprinting, web zipping and much more - Oh and once you have completed them it gives you a mega time to beat!

The range of combat upgrades are endless but you need to earn them by completing missions and gaining more hero points. Then you get to kick ass and do allsorts.

The graphics are excellent and don't flicker even when you get up to swing speed 8 (which is v.quick!)

You can finish this game in about 3 or 20 hours depending on how you play. However I took my time and finsihed it in about 12 hours and I am still playing and will do till I have done most of the missions and found the tokens.

A absolute bargain for 30 notes and would recommend it to any gamer - I have yet to find a bad point!
