STAY CLEAR!!1
This "game" is a great disappointment. It's unfinished and unresponsive, like running through water.
And here's the test... Use the Nunchuck to move your player and hold the remote in the air. The player will always hit the ball without you moving.
It's an absolute wash out.
NO player creation
NO changing weather
NO career mode or ladder to climb
Very poor player reaction.
Terrible control system that lags a few seconds behind your own reactions.
Back to the beloved Wii sports!

Great graphics - poor gameplay1
Tennis on Wii Sports is still one of my favourite games so I was realy looking forward to this. The game looks great on the wii but the controls are poor. In wii sports you put spin on the ball or more or less power on the shot as you would with a real racket. This plays very similar to table tennis where its more about pressing the button (or in this case holding the wii remote at a strange angle) before the shot. The opponents are beatable without it being too easy but it just feels like you're swinging the remote at the right time rather than playing a real tennis game...

Again, comparing to tennis on wii sports where you direct your shot by angling the racket or slicing across the ball etc in Top Spin you use the joystick on the nunchuk...

Very disappointed...

It's also disappointing that there is no online mode but I can't mark the game down for that as I was aware of that before I bought it...

Is anyone else bringing another tennis game out soon?

I haven't been this disappointed since I saw "The Phantom Menace"!!2
This game could have been soooo good. As a massive fan of Wii sports Tennis, I was expecting the same level of immersive gameplay and fun, but with better graphics and more choice of players, locations etc. Well, the players and tournaments are there, and the graphics are pretty good...but the controls are just rubbish!

For a start, I'm left-handed and, guess what?, it doesn't have the facility to change from right to left-handed. Also, in Wii Sports Tennis, you hold the remote much like the handle of a tennis racqet, but in Topspin you have to hold it with your thumb along one edge and your index finger on the 'B' button. It just feels all wrong.

Then there's the fact that you have to attach the Nunchuck to move your player about. I appreciate that it gives you more control over where you want to position your player, but the lead keeps on getting in the way. As if that's not bad enough, you also have to use the nunchuck to position where you want the ball to go, once you've positioned your player and are making the backswing to make your shot.

Lastly, it's really, really, slow.

All in all, £30 down the toilet.
