DIMINISHED NETWORK ACCESS CONTROL
This device is not what it claims to be. It's advertised as professional and reliable network storage. Contrary to this claim if you buy this product you will quickly realise it lacks any secure access let alone professional. Enabling FTP will make it open for access to your data resources by anyone interested. I was very disappointed with this fact as the product description explicitly promises full and secure access by FTP, SMB, AFP, etc. I contacted Lacie for troubleshooting only to have been confirmed that indeed and contrary to their product description there is no secure control over access to the data storage. They did not offer any solution to this problem in any nearest future, other than to offer a full refund for a returned item. This was very frustrating especially because I already backed up 1TB of my data to it. I believe Lacie are misrepresenting their network storage products and should be held accountable for this.
