In-built DVD player and Freeview
Movie night doesn't get much simpler than the Toshiba DVD Combi range. The built-in DVD player eliminates the clutter from extra cables and components, and the digital tuner ensures that you'll be ready for the digital switch. For true viewing pleasure, the Combi will look great anywhere in the house. The built-In slot loading DVD player with easy to access operation buttons is a convenient all-in-one space saving design. This DVD player is capable of playing all of your DivX digital movie files, JPEG images and MP3 music files.
Built-in digital tuner
Between now and the end of 2012 the UK will be turning off all old "analogue" TV transmitters and switching your TV signal to "digital". Digital TV offers new ways to enjoy your TV. You will have a greater choice of TV channels as well as access to additional features and services which will enhance your TV-watching experience.
When the digital switch happens in your area, your older analogue TVs will no longer be able to pick up a signal. To keep your normal TV service running, you will need to convert your TVs to digital before your area's switchover date.
Switching your home to digital is easy. All you need to do is purchase digital tuner and connect it to your analogue TV or alternatively, you can replace it with a new digital TV. All Toshiba LCD TVs carry the Digital Tick and come with Freeview built-in, making them the ideal option for preparing your home for the digital switch.

HDMI
1080p represents the highest possible screen resolution available today. Allowing up to 1 million more pixels than 720p resolution televisions to be used at any time, 1080p resolution provides an amazing level of detail and colour; picture quality which needs to be seen to be believed.
With the popularity of high definition 1080p televisions rapidly increasing, so is the importance of cables which are capable of transmitting high definition content from source to screen. Faster, more efficient data transfer is enabled by the HDMI (High Definition Multimedia Interface) connection.
Pure, uncompressed streams of digital data are transmitted, allowing you to enjoy the benefits of the highest level of sound and image quality. Simply connect the HDMI cable from the DVD player to your TV and enjoy pure digital picture and sound quality. Currently HDMI is the only commonly available connection that can deliver 1080p resolution from a video source (such as a DVD player) to a television. By delivering clear digital audio and video via a single cable, HDMI dramatically simplifies cabling and helps provide the highest-quality home theatre experience. The XDE600 upscaling DVD player comes equipped with HDMI output, allowing this crystal clear transition of content to the screen with the best possible picture and audio quality.

So far so good
I have just received this TV and had no problems at all tuning all the freeview channels in. It has found more channels than any the other TV in the house so don't be put off by a review that focusses on this issue. If your signal is ok then the freeview tuner is fine.
I have another Toshiba 19", this one seems better as it switches on much faster, is easier to switch between analogue and digital (I use analogue to get the Sky signal), switches quickly between radio/tv and has much better picture options to fill the screen (16:9, 4:3, 14:9, auto, cinema). So at first look I am very pleased.
A good bedroom tv
This was purchased as a bedroom tv.
The picture quality is fine, although with the backlight turned up mid-way the blacks are a bit washed out and the contrast suffers. Turning the back-light down helps, but makes the image a bit dark for daytime viewing.
However, since this is mainly used to fall asleep to at night, this problem is not really significant.
The only other point to be aware of is that the sound is pretty puny (as the specifications would suggest). Again, as a bedroom tv this is not a problem, but would be worth thinking about if it's intended for use in busier rooms.
The design is attractive and simple in white, and it fits in well when wall-mounted without the stand.
The remote control is chunky and easy to use - the useful buttons are easily located (especially the "sleep" timer, which is used a lot!).
Not perfect for the most demanding viewers, perhaps, but excellent if you can live with the compromises which come at this price point.
Overall, a great value product, which I am very pleased with.
An excellent package
I received this TV today having ordered it a couple of days earlier (once again top marks to Amazon for great service).
I wanted a TV to replace the aging 14" CRT portable that I have in the kitchen and the Toshiba 19DV616DB ticked all of the boxes in terms of size and functionality. Setting up the TV was simple as it is with most LCD TVs these days and the the TV had no problem picking up all the analogue and digital channels that I am used to seeing. I did some minor adjustments to the picture and audio settings but pretty much left all other settings at their default.
The picture quality is fine for a TV of this price as is the audio quality. I think that at under £200 you can't really expect stunning performance. If I want top quality audio and video I'll go and watch my Panasonic telly in my lounge which cost nearly 4 times as much.
The remote control is easy to use although a bit bigger than I had expected.
Overall a great package and if it performs as well as my 5-year old Toshiba LCD telly that I have in my bedroom then I will be more than satisfied.
