Customer Reviews
Near perfection handheld rock!
I was quite skeptical when i first heard about Rockband Unplugged. My first reaction was, 'Its going to be rubbish!', and the fact that the DS already has a similar game with a add on peripheral, didn't bode well for the un-instrumented Unplugged.
Boy was i wrong.
The 'switch track control' is a simple but strong component of this game, and the way the current track you are playing is turned up gives a realism and all-out cool factor to it. It is also a fantastic, gripping and lengthy game. The world tour mode is massive, and the band customization is epic. You can create your four piece band and choose everything about them, down to the colour of their shoes and the 41 songs that are on the tiny UMD disc are a good selection of modern and classic hits, aswell as some other obscure material.
The reason why i haven't gave this game a 5/5 is due to the lack of Wi-Fi multiplayer. If Harmonix somehow implemented online elements to Rockband Unplugged, i am sure this game would have gone down in gaming history, as the addictiveness and scope of the game could have exploded if it was put into the Infrastructure world.
Overall though, this is a fantastic addition to a music fans psp collection. I strongly recommend it.
Brilliant game!
Rather than a port of the console version, this game is really a follow up to Frequency, a PS2 game, and it works brilliantly on the PSP.
Essentially you control the whole band. If you complete a phase (a series of notes) than that instrument keeps playing, and you then use the shoulder buttons to move to a different instrument. The aim is get the whole band and song playing, with more points for hitting successive phrases.
The whole thing works really well on the PSP - I've been playing it continually. The difficultly level is also really well judged, so the game is never frustrating. The tracks are also well put together, so, some what strangely, it really does feel like you are playing.
Definitely recommended - it's my favourite PSP game.
Very Good, well worth a look!
For a PSP game, this is a gem!
It's great fun, and deserves to be in the collection of anybody who enjoys the Rock Band/Guitar Hero franchise.
It really is very challenging on the higher difficulties, but is still a very fun and rewarding gaming experience.
The reason no 5 stars? It can get a little repetitive after frequent use, and the limitations of the UMD Disc means that the sound quality is fantastic, but is still absolutely fine.
Definately worth a purchase! :)
