Clockwork Chick
Purchased this along with a clockwork caterpillar as I felt they may make interesting toys for my cats to play with.

To gain the cats attention, I decided to race the caterpillar and the chick together and (spoiler alert) found that the chick usually wins each race unless he (or she) gets distracted and veers off course. The chick hops along and the caterpillar hunches and slides and both move acceptably on carpet although they do work best on hard surfaces.

They both seem to be well made and would make good stocking fillers, with the prospect of providing a few hours of entertainment, particularly if purchased with a few of the other types that are available. Unfortunately they have not worked out well as cat toys, but they are not intended for that purpose and are actually a nice distraction to have on the desk during the odd idle moment.
