Teach your youngster to count with Winnie the Pooh on the Counting Honey Hauler, an original, versatile Fisher Price toy that combines the best elements of traditional wood and modern, moulded plastic to produce a bright, colourful and sturdy educational toy.

The wooden cart forms the basis of the toy; unvarnished and engraved for the real traditional feel. Pooh and Piglet are aboard; everyone's favourite bear is at the steering wheel, while his trusty friend Piglet clings on behind. Both are made out of brightly coloured plastic and perfectly imitate the now-familiar Disney characters. At its simplest, this toy is a very appealing push-along.

But the real appeal of the toy is hidden in the Honey Hauler: the large, blue "beehive" that contains 10 bee tokens. Each token has a number from 1 to 10 on one side, and a corresponding number of bees on the reverse. When a child slots the token into the hole, Pooh will obligingly confirm which number token it is. "Four Bees", or something similar, in triumphant voice. Press Pooh and he will say one of a small number of different phrases, and the novel but effective "roll bar" around his head can be used as simple abacus.

Suitable for toddlers of 18 months and above, the Counting Honey Hauler is superb: it offers a simple but large reward for a little effort, and Pooh has an obvious, popular appeal. It is bright, sturdy, durable and easy to clean, and will soon become a favourite. The technology is the best kind--simple but effective--and the beehive closes neatly to store tokens that would otherwise find a home under the sofa or bookcase. The 18-month-old who tested this found the tokens did offer reasonable resistance when she placed them in the slot, but nothing a little perseverance couldn't solve. A truly lovely toy whose educational value will appeal to parents and children will love. --Lucie Naylor

My son just passed his 1st birthday and this was one of his presents. He immediately took a liking to it and after a couple of goes managed to place the counters in the beehive.

This toy is of excellent construction, looks great, sounds great and has loads of appeal.

I would highly recommend this to any parent, this toy is that little bit better then the run of the mill products usually available for this age group
