Does the job at a decent price4
I've been using one of these for three months. I like its sober looks, the reliable and fuss-free magnetic fastening of the tab, and the fact that all ports and lenses remain accessible. The phone stays in the case; the case stops the phone from being scratched by my keys. My only, slight, quibble with the design is that there's no natural place to stow the little black cleaning cloth ...

Nice Little Bargain5
Having spent a long time looking for a case for my iphone, I decided on this one as I thought if it wasn't good enough I hadn't wasted too much hard earned on it. In fact is a super little bargain, the phone is well held in the case and the clasp shuts firmly. It can be charged whilst still in the case and the buttons at top/side (as well as headphones and to a degree camsra - although I think the phone should really be removed to take a decent photo) are accessible.

In essence it is cheap enough to risk a punt on but you'll be surprised at actually how good it is...

Toxic plastic2
The actual item is less textured than what the picture would have you hope for. It's very plasticky and more frustratingly, it has an incredibly strong toxic smell. Due to a seller's mistake with my order, I ordered two cases from different companies, both being the same product. I don't know, whether the material has anything to do with the rash that I recently experienced on my left hand, but I wouldn't say that I am very happy.

The finish and quality of the unit would otherwise be good. The fit is tight, the inner lining is from a soft material that compliments the phone well. If the device falls on its corners (which they naturally do), this case will not protect it as the edges are fairly vulnerable. The magnetic latch is also a worry. It is powerful enough to pick up my car key from an inch, and that is a robust item. Imagine, what effect it will have on a magnetic hard drive inside your iPhone! Also, the hole for the camera is not perfectly placed. Both cases I bought cause a blur in the corner of the pictures. I was skeptical about the plastic pieces holding the handset, but it actually works surprisingly well, they provide a tight fit without damaging the phone and they also provide access to all the ports. Whether the hard plastic will cause some scratches over time, remains to be seen.

Overall, the choice of material, that incredibly strong toxic smell, the slightly small camera hole and the potential to cause magnetic damage let this product down. Shame, because the stitching and the general quality is reasonably high and it would put several cases over £10-15 to shame. But are these risks worth the saving? Probably not. The cheapest new iPhone costs £342, when not purchased under contract (otherwise it's a £8-900 commitment over 18-24 month). They deserve a quality case. I will keep one for the time being and as a backup. Then I will buy one that is made from real leather, not cheap PVC. Of course, leather is more difficult a material to sew and detail, but I think that's what it takes to enjoy an expensive but much-loved gadget. Try this case or buy it as a 'just-in-case' item, after all, it is cheap and better than many cases; and definitely better than nothing.
