`Once upon a time there was a little girl called Little Red Riding Hood. She always wore a red cape with a hood that her grandmother had made for her.
She lived with her mother in a house near a deep dark forest.
One morning her mother called her.
`Granny isn't well,' she said. `Please take this to her.'
And she gave Little Red Riding Hood a basket full of good things to eat.
`Now, mind you stay on the path,' said her mother.
Little Red Riding Hood promised.
After a while she saw a woodcutter.
`Hello,' he called out cheerily. `Off to see your granny? Well, mind how you go.;
A little later she met a cunning and hungry wolf. He was dressed in a green coat and was leaning against a tree..........'
And as this overly-polite wolf sets up a slight detour for Little Red Riding Hood, who does the very thing she promised not to do and strays from the path, he has just enough time to dispense with Granny in one big gulp, and wait for his 'pudding' to arrive, in the shape of Little Red Riding Hood!
However ......... fortunately......in this version, the woodcutter arrives just in time..........Little Red Riding Hood is spared the sight of the inside of the wolf`s tummy and Granny tumbles out in one piece!
Little Red Riding Hood is a great story for young children to join in with...in the `What BIG ears' etc section.....and can be rather noisy too!
Other titles in the series include:-
The Enormous Turnip (Oxford Storybook)
Jack and the Beanstalk (Oxford Storybook)
Chicken Licken (Oxford Storybook)
The Princess and the Pea (Oxford Storybook)
