so good i want one for every room5
These speakers are amazing. That is a fact.

At 700 watts you can really share your music with the rest of the street.

The large downported sub literally vibrates the pipes in the floorboards below when volume and bass is on full, but even at that earthshattering volume, I have never had any distortion. This is when testing all sorts of music, from classical to trance to rap metal to drum n bass. I have to admit though, the vibration thing is serious. Although the sub itself does not boom or distort in any way, be careful where you place it as i even found things like pens on the desk and even an old sky box dumped on top of the wardrobe were causing some crackly vibration noises. Remember bass levels can always be turned down, and i find that a quater volume is usually adequate for bass, gives a lovely full sound but does not overpower. It even has a large metal heatsink sticking out the back, which it needs.

The satelites look amazing, and the titanium tweater that all 7 have means you get the full range of sound. I prefer not to remove the speaker grills, as with them they look like proper speakers, not tiny cheap pc speakers, especially with the nice silver creative badge.

Speaker cables are a nice length compared to previous creative speakers, I only had to extend one which had to go almost all round the edge of the room because of a doorway (laminate flooring). However, the supplied cable designed to connect to the pc and the cable to connect the sub to the control box are quite short, just reaching from one side of my corner desk to the other.

Decent proffesional looking desktop stands are included, and have rubber feet so don't go vibrating

Also sadly the sub is not magnetically shielded and causes your tv or monitor to go purple, so it needs a good 2 foot of space.
My center speaker is placed on top of the pc monitor, which starts to flicker slightly when on full volume, however the tv just 3inches above is not affected.

Get these with the DDTS-100 decoder for the ultimate home theater system. Am now about to purchase a seconed unit for the living room! It will used there as the only speaker set, taking the tv and music system even used for parties etc.

But the sub does have 4 standard 2 pole minijack inputs to connect to just about any device with surround analogue outputs (most new dvd players have this, check for something like 6 or more phono sockets on the back). It also has a seperate stereo input on the control box (no upmixing this to 7.1 though) and a connection for a muvo if anybody has one. It will upmix 5.1 or 6.1 to 7.1 though.

I think these are still offically the most powerful dedicated PC speakers on the market available, which speaks for itself really.

Get them, you won't be dissapointed.

    Another one bites the dust1
Up until a few months ago, I would haved been raving about these speakers. The sound quality is superb, and the 7 speakers give great positional information in games.

But, like many others it seems, my subwoofer has just blown, a few months after the warranty expired. At first it just seems like the quick-blow fuse in the back of the sub-woofer had blown due to a power spike, but on replacing this it just immediately blows agains when the power is turned on, so the internal electronics are obviously damaged.

I'm now the proud owner of £250 heavy box. It costs more to repair than to buy a new set, so basically I just have to throw it away. Great.

I would suggest avoiding these at all costs, and if you have one already, treat it with extreme care. Keep it well ventolated, and never turn it on or off at the mains socket, always use the switch on the back to avoid power spikes.

    Meet the neighbours!5
P>The system is fantastc and as other reviewers have said, very heavy when its delivered! After setting it all up, which isnt complicated at all (the worst part is deciding where to run the cables of which there are 3x 3m, 2x 5m and 2 which are longer and werent labelled when i got them, but i presume are 7m long), its just a matter of switching on and trying them out. I have the Audigy 2 ZS platinum pro soundcard which makes life easier because you simply select 7.1 and it will calibrate them for you in a simple test, making it a breeze to balance the speakers properly. The combination of the platinum pro and these speakers is truly fantastic. Its true that i am noticing new things on albums which i have had for years! The sub is as good, if not better, than the 12 inch Eclipse set up i have in my car!! You simply wont want it turned up all the way! The satellite speakers are of brilliant quality and even at the highest volumes remain clear as a bell. Gameplay is also another amazing experience now. Half life 2 is one that im playing at the moment and the sound is incredible, really adding to an authentic gaming experience. Dvd's are just as good, utilising the THX certification to the full and really giving a home cinema experience that is just, in my opinion, unbeatable for the money. If youre considering the Logitech Z680's then my advice would be to spend the small bit extra and get these beauties!

Just as an indication of how loud these speakers are, i live in a row of cottages, the one next door being rented. Up until i bought these speakers, and within half hour of testing them, (lets face it, its got to be done!!), i met the neighbours i never knew i had!! I cant say they will be back to borrow coffee or anything, but hey.....

All in all, you cant go wrong with these speakers in my opinion.
