Fantastic phone.....best one yet!
I've previously had the Samsung Tocco, LG Viewty and the iPhone but the G1 (or Google Phone) is the best one yet! I only had the iPhone for 24 hour before I returned it as it wasn't for me, but the G1 is and it has a lot of potential. The touchscreen is fast and responsive, as is the connection depending where you are. It has WiFi, 3G, HSDPA, 2G (GPRS).

The internet browser is similar to Safari in that it displays web pages as they are supposed to be viewed and the QWERTY keyboard which slides out, is better than using a touchscreen pad and is more accurate too! The camera is 3 mega pixels and the touchscreen is 3.2", 0.2" smaller than the iPhone so technically not much smaller.

Google Maps are fantastic and it syncs easily with your Google Mail and contacts. It doesn't have a video player installed but these can be downloaded from Android Market (similar to iTunes iPhone's apps) as well as many games, including Guitar Hero: World Tour!

Music files, images, video and more can all be played and you can send and receive MMS unlike the iPhone where you can only send MMS.

This is the first phone with the Android operating system and Nokia and Samsung are now looking to sign it up!

Buy this phone and you won't regret it!

Andoid is the killer app
This is the best phone I have ever had. I love it. The reason I love it so much is all down to it's OS named Android. This software is going going to be so huge and dominate the market. Apple raised the bar with it's wonderful Iphone OS offering ease of use, beauty, and a one stop shop application store. The problem is you are locked in to Apple. With Android anybody is free to develop for the phone which an easy be downloaded via the Iphone style application store from the phone. It's like PC vs Mac - sure the Apple mac is a great machine but only apple make them and use the OS while windows is on EVERY thing else so more software.

This phone is amazing. It feels like a mini PC computer. I have had this phone for 5 days now and haven't stopped playing with it because of all the cool software I have been downloading.

There are some negatives it has to be said. The phone isn't the coolest looking kid on the block. It looks good, sure, but it's not going to win any awards. There is no video playback ( it's coming though via an OS update ) The camera is good but not outstanding. Lastly the battery life isn't amazing HOWEVER people moan way too much about this issue. You have to be realistic - if you want an all singing all dancing smart phone with gps, wifi, huge touch screen that plays your mp3's and your videos and has a tiny battery in it you can't expect it to last forever! Be sensible, turn off what you are not using, and don't expect too much - it's fine.

I can't recommend this phone enough. My GF is getting one after seeing mine and everybody at work wants one too.
