    Wattup big sis?4
The thing that makes the 5x5 Rubik's cube such a big deal is that it is the biggest in its class (excluding the V-Cube series). With the professor cube, one's lateral coordination and logical thinking is turned up another notch as new tricks and techniques come into play. If you're coming straight form the 3x3, the first brick wall that you're likely to encounter are the last two centres, where you have to rack your brain a little.

Despite the obvious challenges of the Rubik's 5x5, I have concluded that it stands level with the 4x4 Revenge for the following reasons:

    - No parity (flipped edge pieces) during the last stage of the solve means no additional gritty algorithms to learn.

    - Since it is an odd-numbered cube it has fixed centre pieces, meaning that all six sides and eight corneres are pre-orientated, thus saving extra work (making sure you solve all the centres relative to their respective corner pieces).

In terms of functionality, the Rubik's Professor fails to deliver reliablilty in construction; its heavy build and clunky mechanisms deem it vulnerable to jamming, popping and even permanent damage, hence it should not be used for the purposes of speed solving.

Overall, the Rubik's 5x5 Professor is great fun and provides a good work-out for your brain. A definite thumbs up from me!

    Excellent Puzzle!5
This is an excellent puzzle, especially for those who have mastered the original 3x3 Rubik's cube or the 4x4 Rubik's Revenge. This cube is only marginally bigger than the 4x4 cube with the individual squares being little more than 1cm square. This stops the cube being too big to handle and it doesn't make it any harder to use.

Due to the number of pieces I have some concerns about the durability of the cube but it seems solidly made and the movement is very smooth. However, there are a lot of layers to line up which can make it hard to do quick moves - the instructions state that this cube should not be used for speed cubing.

On the whole an excellent addition to any cube collection.

    Pretty5
This is much better than the 3x3, the possible patterns are a lot more intricate and pretty. It's not much more difficult to solve, but it takes a lot longer. It's not good for fast manoeuvres as some pieces may pop out and possibly break.
