Good, but a little deceiving!
This deluxe version of scrabble is a great board game.

Anyone who enjoys scrabble and plays regularly knows, one of the most annoying part of the game is delicately turning the board to the next player. This version has a lazy susan turntable under the board to prevent this problem. It is a very useful feature and along with the solid wooden letter pieces one must say it is a very nice set. There are a few problems though! Firstly after opening the box and getting out the contents you realise the set probably doesn't warrant the extra £20 compared to the original set. The letter pieces are not all the same size, a feature which after reflection is quite charming, so do not line up as expected in the letter cradle. the board has a wooden border which is elegant but one could be excused for not realising it is wood because it is obviously machined and varnished almost to a plastic. The middle of the board is a varnished metal with ingrained ridge between each letter space. The placing of letters is aided by these ridges and when turning the board they hold fast. the last quibble is about the letter bag. The bag is a very cheap imitation of velvet which looks great but unfortunately as soon as you delve in for a hand-full of letters you realise the bag has been coated to give the feel of velvet.

Overall if you are a frequent scrabble player get this set! The only reason I have had so many things to complain about is for the fact the extra money spent, compared to the original set, does not seem to be brought out by the product. I play scrabble regularly and enjoy the game and if you were to ask me which version I would like to play on I would always say the deluxe version. I am very happy with the set, just do't expect too much of a leap in luxury between the original and this version.

This is not as deluxe as you might hope, however it does the job. You are led to believe from all stores that this has a wooden board - it is plastic and the letters do not fit in just right. It is a game that we enjoy playing in our house and the quality of the letters is very good.
