About the Author
Barbara Brundage is the author of Photoshop Elements 6: The Missing Manual, and Photoshop Elements 6 for Mac: The Missing Manual, an Adobe Community Expert, and a member of Adobe's prerelease groups for Elements 3, 4, 5, and 6. She's been teaching people how to use Photoshop Elements since it first came out in 2001. Barbara first started using Elements to create graphics for use in her day job as a harpist, music publisher, and arranger. Along the way, she joined the large group of people finding a renewed interest in photography thanks to digital cameras. If she can learn to use Elements, you can, too!
Customer Reviews
An excellent manual
For many years I've used a competing (unnamed but probably fairly obvious) product to restore and retouch photographs. I also do a lot of work using Adobe Flash and Dreamweaver for presentation material and web site design.
The original photo editing package was never entirely stable and, a few weeks ago, I bought (from Amazon of course) both Photoshop Elements 8 and Premier Elements 8, the companion video editing package.
As expected, the help content - as with most moderately complex software packages - proved to be less than adequate and I therefore added the two companion manuals from The Missing Manual series to my shopping basket. I've used the Dreamweaver Missing Manual for a long time and have been highly impressed by it.
I've been using Photoshop 8 and the MM Photoshop 8 manual for a couple of weeks now and can thoroughly recommend both. Whether you need to clean up photos for personal use, for inclusion on web pages or (although it's not my area of application) to produce various forms of art work, the manual is an excellent complement to an excellent product.
I'm about to open the Premier Elements manual and start to find my way around that package and the companion Missing Manual. So, perhaps, there'll be another review!
WHAT CAN I SAY?
Barbara has done it again. If you need it it is this book and if it is not in the book you don't need it!
Photoshop Elements 8 for Windows: The Missing Manual
IF YOU NEED TO KNOW HOW TO DO MORE IN ELEMENTS 8 THIS IS A GOOD BOOK TO LOOK AT, BUT IT DEALS WITH SUBJECTS BY TITLE E.G FILTERS ETC.
I DONT WORK LIKE THAT AND WOULD FIND MINI PROJECT BASED TUTORIALS MUCH EASIER TO LEARN FROM. OTHERWISE COMPREHENSIVELY COVERS ALL SUBJECTS..JUST BE PREPEARED TO HUNT FOR WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW.
