The Bosch Rotak 34 Li cordless rotary lawn mower comes with a powerful 36 volt/2.6Ah Lithium-ion battery with advanced electronics to enable a constant blade speed in all grass conditions. With the innovative grass combs it can also cut up to or over the edge of your lawn. It has a full 34cm cutting width, a rear roller for stripes and a range of cutting heights from 20 to 70mm, making it ideal for medium to larger lawns.

Features of the Bosch Rotak 34 Li Efficient Energy Management (EEM) EEM increases the run time of the Rotak 34 Li by 10%-20%. The EEM has two functions. Firstly, intelligent cutting electronics maintain the blade rotation at an optimum constant speed; this smoothes out the ‘load’ requirement and saves energy. Secondly, the kinetic energy recovery system harnesses the energy generated by the blade run-down and feeds it back into the mower battery as soon as the motor has been switched off.

Cordless freedom Being cordless means none of the hassle of untangling the cable--and damaging flower beds in the process. But most importantly, without a cord, there’s no chance of cutting the cable whilst mowing. The Bosch Rotak 34 Li can be used anywhere away from a power source and, unlike petrol mowers, are free of smell and excessive noise.

Grass combs--mow right up to the edge With inset front wheels, the innovative grass combs on the Rotak 34 Li enable cutting of grass growing close to or over the edge of the lawn. This ensures that no strips of uncut grass are left behind even when cutting around flower beds, walls or paths.

Height of cut adjustment A single lever enables you to quickly and easily change the height of cut from 20 to 70mm, for different lawn conditions.

Get stripes with the rear roller With the rear roller on the Rotak 34 Li you can gain that professional look and get stripes all over your lawn. Additionally, and importantly, the rear roller offers stability over lawn edges and prevents scalping.

Lightweight and easy to carry The Rotak 34 Li’s Lithium-ion battery is light, making the mower light as well. At only 12.8kg and with its integrated carry handle, the mower is easy to carry and manoeuvre. And with its fold-down handles, the Rotak 34 Li is easy to store.

Large grassbox With a large 40 litre rear-fitting grassbox, you won’t have to spend as much time emptying grass cuttings--so more time can be spent gardening.

Lithium-ion battery performance The Bosch Rotak 34 Li’s Lithium-ion battery’s performance will vary according to the conditions of the grass. If it’s too wet, too long or covers a large area, this will affect the running time of the battery but in ideal conditions where the grass is short, fine and dry, running times could be up to 30 minutes. The Rotak 34 Li’s 36V/2.6Ah Lithium-ion battery should give 500-700 cycles of life, which should be anywhere between 5 to 10 years of regular usage.

Convenience at a price
Having cut through the cord on my electric mower, I figured that it was time to try something else. Petrol mowers were one option but I thought that battery power was the easiest option. And this Bosch has been grand so far. It is very easy to use. The instructions are hard to follow but fortunately even for a technical klutz like me it is easy to assemble and to charge the battery. The battery charges fast - about half an hour is enough for my medium sized lawn. It's great advantage is that it avoid all the palaver of extension leads and cords and in doing so has more than halved the amount of time it takes to cut the lawn. In doing so what was a chore before has become straightforward, even enjoyable.

The main reservation has to be the price. This is about twice the price of an equivalent electric mower from the same range. That is a big premium. After my near death experience I think it's worth it but others may not. One other minor point is that I can't vouch for how it handles the first cut of the year and, as Rod Sewart once said, the first cut is the deepest. But overall I'm happy with this purchase and would recommend it.

Very very good
This lawn mower is very expensive if you go for the battery powered option but I decided to treat myself and I think its brilliant. Its great not having the cable like on my previous Flymo. Of course you could get a petrol mower but I needed something light as I have to carry it through my terraced house to get to the front lawn. Its light and gives a very good cut and the flexibility to adapt the cutting length just by flicking a switch it brilliant. A hundred times better than the Flymo I had, battery powered or not.

Bosch Rotak 34 Li - Cordless Rotary Mower
I think this mower is a brilliant idea no trailing cables and no petrol to sort BUT it does feel flimsy and I think its hugely expensive for what it seems and why a blanking plate stopping access to lower cutting levels? Overall it does suit me but I wonder how long it will last, most people are shocked when I tell them the price for what looks like a cheap mower.
