Full Body Shield for Apple iPhone 3G
Basically sticky backed plastic but does the job
Why oh why are apple incapable or unwilling to produce hardware which offers any form of scratch resistance?
Whatever the reasons and I have my suspicions the iphone needs some form of protection to prevent it becoming a scratched mess within a few weeks.
I was advised that this was a reasonable choice.
I wanted something to protect my iphone from scratches but did not want to detract from the look of the thing.
For me therefore a case was not the answer.
This is basically sticky backed plastic cut to preformed shapes (or thats what it looks and feels like).
Despite that it goes on reasonably well and does its job. I agree with the other reviewer that it does have a very slight mottled effect on the screen but this is not noticeable when the screen is on. With regards to it being sticky I only found this to be a problem for the first 48hrs while it dried. It is now quite smooth and non sticky. My only real criticism is that on the back around the corners it is nearly impossible not to get some small bubbles which do detract from the look of the thing (but nowhere near as much as scratches would).
On balance therefore I think it is a good purchase but not perfect and perhaps a little expensive.
Take your time - patience rewards!
Followed the instructions to the letter and achieved a really good result. Almost perfect in fact. Installation of the whole shield - front, back and small fiddly bits took around 1 hour.
BUT, 2 months down the line, I am finding the corners are starting to peel away and look a little shabby. I think this is inevitable on this type of covering on curved surfaces - perhaps the manufacturer needs to consider a stronger adhesive? All in all quite pleased with it but it will require replacement after 3 - 6 months if you want it to look pristine.
