A great game
The first thing that i would say about this game is that it is hard. That is no understatement. If you are a gamer that can get frustrated easily, walk away. This is for dedicated gamers.
Good, now ive gotten that out of the way, i can get to the actual game. I found this game extremely enjoyable, and i have played through it several times. Ninja Gaiden Black IS NOT A SEQUEL to the orignal game. it is a repackaging with a few bonuses. It has extra content from the online 'Hurricane Packs'. This content includes extra costumes and weapons including the Lunar (a staff) which is very cool. There are also several new enemies and a mission mode which can be unlocked after completing the game. This mission mode consists of 50 or so levels which take place in arenas from locations in the game. They are small challenges but they are challenging. Even by the end of this game when you think that you have mastered the controls, this mode can be very difficult. Your strategies are possibly more important than your technique.
The combat system is excellent, as is the framerate. You won't be disappointed by the graphics. One problem with the orignal game was that the camera was a bit of a problem. Black has a new camera system which works a lot better.
The storyline is not very deep, but the gameplay is varied enough for you to be able to ignore that. There are some puzzles in the game as well as just fighting and sometimes the only way to proceed is to use manouvres like wall-running etc.
Many reviews will say this game is TOO HARD. This is only the case if you do not apply simple techniques to the way you control your character. For example you will need to spend a lot of the time blocking and attacking at the right moment. If this is something that you are not patient enough to do then it's no wonder that you end up not enjoying this game.
This is a great game if you are not so quick to shun it. It takes some time to adapt to the way you must play, but overall i would recommend this to anyone.
CAUTION: The european versions of the original game were censored - no decapitions. All versions of NINJA GAIDEN BLACK feature decapitions. If your are buying this game for a child i would bear that in mind.
Downloadable through Xbox 360 for cheaper
Just wanted to let others know that starting yesterday you can buy Ninja Gaiden Black through the Xbox Original section on the Xbox marketplace now for £10 (1200 points).
So if you dont fancy paying silly money like £20+ for a used copy then you can just download it and have a copy permanently on your hard disk so you can load it up right away.
You can also delete it if you need the space on the hard drive and then freely re-download it as many times as you want.
Ninja Gaiden returns in Black
when ninja gaiden first arrived on xbox it showed the world the xbox's capibilities it really pushed the machine to its limits.
now it returns but not im afraid to say as a sequel. its the same game but this time with more, lots more and its harder then ever before, (can ninja gaiden get any more difficult?).
unfortunately to unlock the newest missions you must do the impossible and complete Black on the hardest difficulty. tecmo have also kindly thrown in a few new costumes but this is definitely a game for the new or the hardcore fans
