Customer Reviews
Poor Design, Poor Qualitity
Assembly is straight forward and outwardly well packed, but I too had a damaged oval leg as mentioned in a previous review which was not a great start. I chose this stand for it's extra length, and unfortunally this is where this stand's design fault is exposed.
The top shelf is quite thick glass, but the two lower shelves are of thinner glass. With the extra length of this stand, the lower thinner shelf bows under the weight of any equiptment that is placed on it. It really requires an extra short front leg/foot to support the shelf. I have had to pack it up to reduce the bow (about 12mm) and for my own peace of mind. But it now looks abit naf when watching TV with these packers exposed.
The final downer on this stand was about three days after assembly, giving the stand is daily dust down, I have noticed one of the rear chrome tops has the chrome plating peeling off.
Superb classy stand
After pondering for a few days on which stand to get for my 50' plasma I finally decided on this one, And boy am I glad I did, it really looks the part in black with the silver legs, only downside is the rather poor cable management, overall a really classy looking stand that I would definately recommend.
Looks good and size is important
My first thoughts were when I opened the box this is well packaged. It probably is however mine arrive with one of the heavy chrome support legs oval instead of round. This was not done at the factory and it was no small achievement by whoever did it as the legs are very strong and were contained in a MDF and hardboard frame and foam wrap in the cardboard box. After a little engineering work and it was round again. This was the hardest part of the job. The assembly instructions were very good and assembly was simple with no tools needed. All the shelves were labelled and I found the best way to put it together was upside down. The 4 legs are held in place by wind nuts fitted to a concealed centre rod. These should not be over tightened. It is a two person job to turn and move this item which is reasonably heavy. The 4 pressure clips that hold the rather feeble cable tidy are different sizes. The two larger ones fix to the top shelve. The tidy will never be seen, once the shelves, which could easily hold six items, are filled. I liked this TV unit when it was assembled. I was delighted with it after it had been cleaned and my piano black 46" TV mounted on it. It does look the part and I am pleased I choose it over the much cheaper clear glass GT5.
