Product Description

You never thought it would turn out like this - an all-out chase where you're the hunted. And the hunter. Now you must get behind the wheel and risk everything to infiltrate a ruthless international crime syndicate and take them down. The man you're after is a maniac behind the wheel, and he's driving like his life depends on escape, which maybe it does. He's the one with all the answers you need, you will track him down. Needless to say, that fleet of police cruisers in your rearview mirror won't make things any easier. It will take all of your experience - and every ounce of skill - to outrun the law, take down the enemy, and unlock the truth that puts an end to this chase once and for all.

  • Go Deep Undercover: Race into an action-packed story of pursuit and betrayal. Take on jobs and compete in races to prove yourself as you infiltrate and take down an international crime syndicate.
  • Highway Battle: Fight off the cops and others as you take down your prey in high-speed, high stake multi-car chases. New and vastly improved A.I. mechanics mean more aggressive and intelligent cops focused on taking you out fast and by any means necessary.
  • Criminal Scramble: Be a cop and chase down criminals in the Criminal Scramble Mode.
  • Heroic Driving Engine: An all-new game engine lets you pull off amazing moves for the ultimate driving edge.

A disgrace to the Need For Speed name1
Before I say anything, I just want to mention that I usually like games that nobody else does. I don't mind bad graphics or games that aren't up to scratch, I'm used to it. But this is in a different league.

Need For Speed has always been my favourite racing series for any console. I first played NFS Most Wanted on the PS2, which was brilliant. Everything about it was perfect and the story was epic. Carbon and Pro Street on the PS2 were disappointing but not bad. Undercover Wii was on par with NFS Most Wanted. A brilliant game, not so brilliant graphics but definitely 9/10 overall.

My brother wanted a racing game for his DS, so he decided, after loving the predecessors, he would go for NFS Undercover. And how he regretted it.
Despite being OK on the wii, the story for the DS version was shortened and rushed, with something like 65 events in the whole game with the story lost with short paragraphs of dialogue thrown in. There was no mystery, intrigue or action in the story either. 3/10

Then we come to the graphics. The cars all look the same - just boxes. The customization is pointless. OK, you can choose the colours, granted, but you only get a choice of 20 vinyls which you can't even change the colour for. All the streets look the same and even at 300 KPH you feel like you're doing 20. During a High-Way Battle, you'll have a clear road and in half a second you'll have hit a car. It's that bad, you can't see more than a few seconds in front of you. 1/10

The game play is horrendous. It's not reactive, you can't feel anything that's happening with the car. The AI's slow down when you're behind them, then as soon as you're past they zoom ahead. That's after they've used all their Nitrous Oxide. Speaking of N2O, it's just weird. A stock car off the line with half a bottle of stock nitrous will be at top speed in 1 second flat. No joke, I'm serious. When you're higher up the chain of cars and upgrades, half a bottle of nitrous will take you out of sight of the AI's in no time.

The only good point: The world that you race on is different to the different platforms versions and is quite interesting. Shame it hasn't got any corners. You will be flat out and at top speed for 99% of a race.

Other Points:

- There are about 10 cars

- Completing the game takes the best part of 2 hours

- No free roam

- The cop chases are rubbish, with no way of getting spikes, rhinos, choppers or more than 3 cops after you.

- Utterly Awful. Nuff said.
