Product Description

On the eve of the Cuban revolution, a major mob meeting in Havana takes a bloody turn. The Don of your family is killed, and you must take the reigns and lead your battered organisation. Success breeds opportunity, so when Michael Corleone comes under investigation by a Senate Committee on Organised Crime, the Corleone Family calls upon you to re-establish its operation in New York and expand into a new territory - Miami. Build up your arsenal, build alliances, and make whatever deals you need to as you fight off attacks and strike back at your rivals. There'll be a price on your head and a target on your back, but don't take it personally. After all, it's only business.

  • Build Your Family: Recruit, develop, and promote members of your crime family.
  • Command a Crew: Bring up to three crew members along on jobs, including an arsonist, demolitions expert, safecracker, and more. Command their actions in battle and unleash their specialties on your enemies.
  • The Don's View: Be a true Don as you coordinate all the action using a 3D world map: survey your turf, place defences on businesses, analyse crime patterns, identify new illicit racket monopolies, and choose the target of your next attack.
  • Blackhand Brutality: Act like a mobster to command respect, intimidating and extorting business owners and rival families with devastating new attacks and executions.
  • Bring Your Family Online: Recruit your friends to join your family and take them into battle online to find out who is the Don of Dons.
  • Its Only Business': Relive the greatest moments from The Godfather II in an open-world action experience inspired by the movie.

Superb5
I have to say I came onto this site having finished this game expecting to see mainly 4-5 stars and just wanted to add my praise so you can imagine I was quite surprised to see it has had quite a few negative reviews.

I thought the game was superb. The new Dons view was brilliant and really made you feel like you were actually running a crime business instead of just going round shooting people.

The first night I played on this, I thought I had been playing for an hour and I was so engrossed in it, that I had actually been playing on it for 3 hours.

The side missions and favours to earn money and upgrade your men are really fun. Graphically solid, the story was also very interesting and left you feeling tense and excited.

My only gripe was that it is a little bit easy. The gun fights are hard to lose and when you die, one of your medics usually revives you and then you just take cover and your health renews. I definitely would have given it 5 stars if it was a little bit more challenging.

But overall a brilliant game which I was so engrossed in, I was having 2-3 hour sessions wheras usually I spend up to an hour max on the playstation a day.

Make your own mind up3
I know a lot of people are on the fence about buying this, i hope my review helps you.

If you liked the first Godfather game you will like this too, no question. The gameplay remains the same, with some new features:

* Better graphics
* More weapons
* Your own family (crew members follow you & help out)
* 3 Places to conquer (New York, Florida and Cuba)
* Dons View
* Challenges (Cracking safes, execution styles)
* Bonuses (Bulletproof vests, armored cars)

The game has a good balance of action like shooting, executing people, driving, as well as the strategic stuff like taking over businesses, earning favours (call off police, put rival family members in jail), guarding businesses, making money, upgrading your family.

A few disadvantages are that the game does have some bugs, things like your crew struggling to get into your car sometimes or dumb AI. These dont impact the gameplay a whole lot, but are there -- hopefully the game will be patched in an update.

The reviews by places like IGN and Gamespot who totally murdered this game are over reacting i think, they called it 'unfinished' and to avoid it at all costs, but this is their opinion.

So if you are on the fence about getting it, just ask yourself if you liked the original, or have bought games in the past which were rated low and you ended up enjoying them alot (Assassins creed comes to mind for me).

Godfather 2 isnt an amazing game, but it is a lot of fun.

This will sleep with the fishes.3
This game has many short comings. The texturing and graphics are not good, the City's don't have a free roam feel to them at all, in fact I would go as far to say that it's seriously constricted and you seem top spend a huge amount of time lost on rooftops. The cars are simply for getting from A to B. There are no rival gangsters driving around in cars at all and getting away from the police is a joke it's so easy.

Saying that I have enjoyed playing it. You assemble your own crew which can be quite fun. You end up with an underboss, 2 capo's and 4 soldiers. Crew members have different abilities. (Medic, safecracker, bruiser, arsonist and engineer) Who can be recruited from your businesses or hidden around the city. (always look for the hidden guys, they are so much better) You can add them to your crew or direct them to attack, defend or bomb businesses. Rival crews have made men as well who you can find information on and attack them using specific kill circumstances to illuminate them from the game. This stops them attacking your businesses.

There are some serious flaws in this game and at times it feels like it should have been a PS2 release but saying that I enjoyed playing it. In summary it's not a classic but it's worth having a look at.
