Live In Paris
I'll admit from the start that i am a huge fan of Jill Scott, but even by her high standards this album is incredible. The liner notes describe it as magical and I am inclined to agree. You get a great selection of tracks from her first and second album and the audience atmosphere is electric. 'Golden' has an excellent jazzy segue way, 'The Fact Is (I need you)' is sung with passion so strong it is almost palpable and when she talks to the audience afterwards you really feel her connection to them and feel her message. Like she has always said, she is an artist rather than an entertainer and you sense that strongly on this album. Jill Scott live is a powerful experience and this album reflects that. The fact that this comes with a DVD only adds to the value, but I'd be happy with the CD alone. The DVD is a powerful viewing experience, and seeing her perform 'Rasool', and how she truly feels the song, is extremely moving. It's not often I'd say this about an artist but Jill Scott is someone that you need in your life and once you hear her there's no going back, and nor would you want to. Sublime and soulful!!

If you are a music lover, get it NOW!!!
Jill Scott is the REAL THING in today's soul music! No need to say much about her! She is a fantastic artist! But what pleased me most in this DVD + CD was the fact that everyone in this concert is unique! THE BAND IS AMAZING, creating a wonderful background for Jill's meaningful lyrics! What I also loved was that they are not "afraid" of using many different elements in their playing... Even though the songs are mainly soul, r&b they also use elements of jazz, blues, latin, classical and even rock music! And the result is absolutely capturing! If you appreciate quality music you should definitely get this! I only hope that I'll soon get the chance to be in one of Jill's concerts in person!
PS: Pete Kuzma (the band's keyboardist) is phenomenal!

Magical
I am a huge Jill Scott fan and this album definitely showcases just how amazing an artist she actually is, infact she could sing the Yellow Pages and it'd be amazing. Jill Scott has a tendency to deliver amazing album after amazing album and although this is a live project, it shows a different side to Jill's work. The live side and how she has the strength as an artist to flip everything on it's head and deliver something just as incredible and magical live, often giving her work a new sound with Jazz elements, etc.

All in all, this is a fabulous album and one I would truly recommend to anyone who appreciates music with passion and a whole lot more besides.
