Morphy Richards 475075
I've had this machine for 1 month now and it hasn't let me down once. I had a good look around in the Jan sales and this machine beat all others for the features (it also takes coffee pods) and price. I was reticent to buy as I was unsure of the Morphy Richards brand, but it is beautifully made with a heavy, solid feel to it.
The machine is noisy whilst pressurising, but this only lasts for a few seconds. The coffee tastes great every time. Quite simply unbeatable for the money.

Great machine and splendid coffee every time!4
From the picture you can hopefully see that this Espresso machine is very good looking: the nice brushed stainless steel design is excellent quality and has a solid feel, the blue digital screen is both practical & eye-catching.

Most importantly, whats the coffee like? I am really impressed with the crema produced, especially with Illy Coffee (Espresso Red Tin). The temperature seems just right every time: hot but not too hot. I love the odd Cappucino too and using the steamer to froth the milk is a breeze with a suitable steel pitcher. I haven't tried any coffee pods as yet but there is a special pod holder included. Once you get used to this machine and experimented a bit, you can make great coffee every time! I was expecting the blue display to be more for show but it is very worthwhile and useful. Contrary to an earlier reviewer, I find the pump pressure to be fine, I think you'll read the more negative reviews on here from those that had either problematic (faulty) machines or couldn't get to grips with working it properly.

There are a few quirks which have been mentioned before e.g. the handle needs to be pushed around to about 5 o'clock instead of stopping at 6. Coffee cups do 'walk' a little if you don't hold them when dispensing. Also (this might be stating the obvious) you must use a fine 'espresso' type grind otherwise you will NOT get desirable results unless you enjoy a watery mess of a drink ;)

The machine is easy to clean, the rubber nozel from the steamer can easily be removed for cleaning. The drip tray easily pulls out and can be emptied and wiped. The water tank attaches to the back, can be a little awkward to slide off (upwards) and fill but generally its fine. The machine is quite rapid at heating the water/producing the steam too although I always turn it on about 5 minutes before use anyway. If you do have any problems with the machine then there is a 2 year warranty included, none for me so far though. The instructions provided are quite clear and easy to follow, there is a handy card which instructs you how to use the machine with grinds or pods which is useful whilst you are learning to use it.

It might not be a Gaggia but its up to you whether it worth paying 3 or 4 times the price for a similar spec Gaggia machine.
Any grumbles that I do have (and they are minor grumbles) are offset by the great if not fantastic coffee produced hence 4 stars - this machine is not perfect but at this price its BRILLIANT!

A beautiful machine4
Impressive machine, all stainless steel, as strong as an ox. Not like so many more expensive but lesser machines in tacky metalicised plastic. Once you get used to
the noise of the pump and the occasional burst of steam (I find it quite comforting) it becomes very easy and consistent in use, and the cool blue illuminated information display looks fantastic. Always great coffee, from gounds or pods. You'll never drink at a high street coffee shop again.
