Budget Espresso Machine
Looks the part, makes perfectly good espresso and it's cheap. As I write this we have had our machine for at least a year without trouble and I am just buying another as a gift. It should be noted that whereas you can "store" two cups on top of the machine, they are actually not warmed - so you really need to pre-warm cups from a kettle or you are soon drinking cold coffee. If you don't want to spend (or can't) 5 times the price, this little machine is fine.
Does the business
I'm very pleased with my little espresso and cappuccino maker. It's fairly simplistic and cheap to the feel, made of low-quality plastic and aluminium, but what else do you expect for something which makes perfectly good coffee for under £20? Highly recommended.
Worst of both worlds
I like the coffee that you get from stove-top mocha pots and espresso machines -- strong, solid, black. I do not like the coffee that you get from cafetieres or drip-filter coffee machines -- pale, watery, flavourless. I bought this machine because we don't have a stove-top at the office, and I was tired of walking across the road and paying £2 every time I wanted a cup of coffee. Well, I shouldn't have bothered. This machine is a complete waste of time and money. It looks like -- and is sold as -- an espresso machine. But it operates more like a miniature drip-filter machine. It basically boils (a very small amount of) water, and drips it onto the puck of coffee, leading to a very small amount of watery tasteless coffee. You may as well just boil a kettle and do it yourself. So, it gives you the worst of both worlds, bad cafetiere coffee in espresso quantities. I'm going to buy an electric moka pot instead.
