Witty, one-of-a-kind imaginative cupcake designs using candy and sweets from the local store. Karen Tack and Alan Richardson show how to create funny, scary, and sophisticated masterpieces, using common sweets and snack items. With these easy-to-follow techniques, even the most kitchen-challenged cooks can: raise a big-top circus cupcake tier for a child s birthday; trot out a line of confectionery pupcakes for a dog fancier; serve sausage and pepperoni pizza cupcakes for April Fool's Day; bewitch trick-or-treaters with chilly ghost chocolate cupcakes; make a white cupcake Christmas wreath and Easter egg cupcakes No baking skills or fancy pastry equipment is required. Spotting the familiar items in the hundreds of brilliant photos is at least half the fun.

the best
This is the best novelty cupcake book ever !!!!! Their use of sweets and frosting tecniques is fantastic and well illustrated. There are animals, people, flowers, vegetables, bugs, skittles, xmas baubles.............. as well as recipes for the cakes. A book that will make you smile !!!!!!!!
What a Great Book
A really Fantastic book, complete with decorating ideas, tips, techniques even templates. Great for those who are interested in cupcakes decorating for kids. Sort of book I'd been looking for so far.
Very disappointing & few "recipes"
Given all the positive reviews for this book, I decided to purchase it as cupcakes have become a new passion. The photograph on the front particularly drew me in. But I have to say that I was generally very disappointed with this book. There are lots of cupcake decorating ideas - the dogs on the front being the best in my view - but many of the decorating ideas were more arty than edible. Some of the cupcakes are designed to look like savoury food, and I just didn't find that particularly inspiring to make. I was also incredibly disappointed that there were no recipes in the book for cupcakes!! The recipes included involved packet cake mixes! To me, this is sacrilege for a cookbook (or at least what I thought was a cookbook). The recipes are just a couple of pages at the back. Whilst there are a few interesting techniques, you would probably learn more by doing a search of YouTube and looking there. Overall I feel this book was a waste of money, and I have to say that I am obsessed with cookbooks and can honestly say that this is the only cookbook that I own that I feel was a mistake! If you're after something with a range of both cake and frosting recipes, along with beginner and more advanced decoration techniques, I'd highly recommend the Australian Women's Weekly Cupcakes and Fairycakes book. Much more useful - and cheaper too!
