Product Description

British trench maps are relatively common, but German ones are considerably rarer. This large format reproduction of an original 1/25,000 1917 German trench map covers entire Cambrai front from Queant in the north west to Cambrai in the north east and from Le Mesnil in the south west to Bantouzelle in the south east. The map includes all the key areas such as Inchy, Moeuvres, Bourlon, Fontaine Notre Dame, Graincourt, Flesquieres, Havrincourt, Marcoing, Ribecourt, Noyelles, Villers Plouich, Masnieres, La Vacquerie, Bonavis and Crevcoeur. British trenches and positions are shown in red, German trenches in blue. Other details are included such as barbed wire, light railways, gun emplacements and other associated positions. All maps reproduced in full colour. Visit www.thebattleofcambrai.co.uk for further information.

A fascinating view of the other side of the hill.5
A short book, but a mine of useful information.

This is a fascinating view of German intelligence on the British positions as well a detailed view of the German defences, including their trench names and artillery positions. A rare document indeed reproduced in rich colour.

Highly recommended for anyone interested in the Battle of Cambrai.

Misleading Title1
This 26 page book contains one title page, twenty-four reproductions of a German trench map, and one page containing a brief description of the contents together with a reproduction of the trench map symbols (in German).
There is no discussion of what the title calls: 'The Battle of Cambrai 1917.' The subtitle is: 'From German Trench Maps', but the contents are details of a single map.
The map pages have no commentary, and are untitled.
Pages 16 and 20 are the same.

Useful reproduction of a rare document5
The book consists of twenty-four full page reproductions of a single German trench map. It covers each section of the map running from north to east and shows the whole 1917 Cambrai sector. One page is a brief description of the contents together with a reproduction of the trench map symbols which would have benefited from a translation from the German.

A useful reproduction of a rare document that would have otherwise remained unseen.
