Manufacturer's Description
The Fuji FinePix E900 Digital Camera is the right choice for photo enthusiasts who want digital SLR quality, in a compact point-and-shoot body. Designed for the serious digital photographer AND the aspiring enthusiast, the FinePix E900 takes digital photography to a higher level.

Packing a powerful 9 megapixel, 5th Generation Super CCD HR sensor (the highest resolution available in a consumer digital camera) the FinePix E900 joins Fujifilm's already popular E-series line of cameras and continues the tradition of point-and-shoot ease and photographic essentials such as image quality, form factor, and powerful feature sets including manual controls, found in all E-series models. The E900 has a powerhouse photographic engine in an ergonomic point-and-shoot design, allowing aspiring photographers to take better pictures than ever before.

The E900 offers Fujifilm's innovative Real Photo Technology, which provides many benefits for the user, including faster operation, low noise processing, better low-light shooting, and higher shutter speeds that minimize blurriness in photos at even the highest ISO setting of 800 and in full resolution. In addition, fully automatic features on the E900 provide point-and-shoot simplicity, while manual and customizable feature settings provide additional control, particularly when combined with the power of optional lenses.

In addition to a convenient, ergonomic, travel-friendly design, the E900 offers a large 2-inch LCD screen making taking and sharing pictures easy. A mode dial provides easy access to advanced shooting modes and a 4x optical zoom, which can be enhanced with optional lens adapters, allows users to tailor each shot to their needs. Other versatile shooting functions include a live histogram display for exposure settings and a highlight warning function.

Its new Fujinon lens delivers beautiful photos that mirror what your eyes will see. The built-in Anti-Blur program suppresses any blurring from a shaky camera, while the High Speed Shooting Mode means you always get the shot, no matter how fast the subject is moving. A new world of superb digital photos has just opened up! Exciting features include: 4x optical zoom, 7.6x digital zoom, 30.4x total range Mode dial for easy access to common shooting functions, full auto point and shoot mode, 5 pre-programmed scene position modes: anti-blur, natural light, portrait, night and landscape. The FinePix viewer downloads photos to a PC each time you connect PictBridge and lets you transfer directly to compliant printers. Now you can skilfully capture those moments and preserve them forever!

    Great Camera from Fuji5
This camera represents great value for money at this price. It offers the user the best of both worlds- there are many different manual modes to tinker with along with automatic scenes etc. It has a fast start up and little shutter lag. It's not one of these ultra thin pieces of technology but is of a fairly small size (it will not however slip into your jeans pocket). But what it lacks in sleekness it makes up for in photo quality.

Overall if you want an automatic 14mm thick camera look elsewhere. If however you are more interested in HIGH QUALITY photos and the option of several manual features then give this camera a serious consideration. I certainly don't regret buying one.

    A top class photographer's compact5
I have looking to buy this camera since it got the Best Buy Award in 'What To Buy For Business', but until now, the price put me off (£299 or more). I couldn't believe I could get such a high spec camera on Amazon for £199. You would normally only get a modest 6m or 7m pixels for this kind of money.

I wasn't disappointed when the camera arrived. It's got everything on it I wanted - an incredible 9 million pixel sensor which gives you the finest detail possible, plus a sharp x 4 zoom lens and 2" LCD. What I really like is the photographic control it gives me (I've used a film SLR for many years). There are 10 different shooting modes, including the all-important shutter-priority, aperture-priority, and manual exposure modes which allow me as much creativity as my film camera. It's also quick to start up with almost no shutter lag (which put me off other models). It's also one of the few compacts with RAW file format, which gives exceptional quality if you want to go beyond the normal jpegs.

Any niggles? Not really. It's not the smallest camera around - but small cameras can't give you all the features that the E900 can. It really is a top class photographic device. If you want something for snaps, probably go for something smaller.

I took some time to consider replacing my film camera, and I have to say that the image quality is absolutely superb. I see that you can buy wide conversion and telephoto lenses to go from 24mm or up to 248mm 35mm focal length equivalent. With the money I saved on this purchase, I'm going to get these lenses before my trip to Africa this summer.

I've only got one piece of advice - go for the E900 before they run out!!

Wonderful in just about all areas5
After previously owning its predecessor, the E550 which was quite frankly superb, this camera is better in almost all areas. The menu system isnt quite as user friendly, but they have added a really useful button for continuous shooting modes. The only other gripe is that the LCD whilst the same size has less pixels.

The image quality at 9mp using RAW is superb, for jpegs I use the 5mp setting, thus getting an 8x optical zoom. Even printed at A4 there is little difference in quality between the 5mp and 9mp settings. The low light focusing is miles better than the predecessor and you can use ISO800 throughout the full range of resolutions which allows great hand held low light shots even at 9mp.

Finally you still get that wonderful rich Fuji colour. On many occasions whilst being out for the day with others who have great Canon and Nikon compacts, on viewing the days images, the Fuji images always seem richer in colour.

In summary a great point and shoot camera that can be used to take proper manual images too. Video mode is so good we rarely take the DV movie camera out anymore. Remember to buy a 1GB Fuji card from Amazon too, anything less is a waste of time.
