The xD-Picture Card is a new type of ultra-compact memory media that has been developed jointly by Fujifilm and Olympus. It meets the demands of new camera technologies that deliver larger image files and in some cases have the ability to record high-quality movie footage. By adopting a very small footprint (of only 20 x 25 x 1.7 mm and around 2 g in weight), camera designers also have the flexibility to produce more compact and innovative models.

The name "xD-Picture Card" was derived from eXtreme Digital and was chosen to reflect the excellence with which the new format would be able to record, store and transport audio-visual information. With a capacity for up to 8 GB of data, the format is set to meet the demands of data storage in digital cameras and other devices well into the future.

As well as the potential for large capacities, (increasingly larger capacity cards will become available through 2004), xD-Picture Cards have a high read/write performance. The new media boasts data transfer rates of around 5 MB of data per second. This makes them ideally placed for recording image "bursts" (i.e., large numbers of images over a short time interval), high-resolution images and high quality video, (such as the full frame, full frame rate movie mode offered in some FinePix cameras). It also greatly enhances the user's perception of the product. The waiting times, as images are written to the card, or read from it, are also minimised.

Despite the higher performance in terms of capacity and speed, xD-Picture Cards are also more economical with battery power. Users will benefit immediately from enhanced battery life and fewer recharges.

DON'T BUY FROM MOREFLASH
Just a warning to anyone thinking of purchasing anything from MOREFLASH, DONT DO IT - you are unlikely to get the item you want anytime around the quoted delivery and in the unlikely event that you do, it is most likely to be the wrong specification. This outfit will take your money the instant you press the confirm order button, then they will fobb you off with the old 'lost in the post' story. BE WARNED these people are NOT TO BE TRUSTED so try somewhere else, even if the price is a bit higher. I am suprised and dismayed that this outfit is allowed to trade on the AMAZON good name.

Works Great
Received 2 for my Fuji Finepix A330 as was worried the new Fuji type H and type M cards wouldn't work in my older model, and these ones are working great. Useful size and glad I could still get hold of them! Worth the investment, even with most of the £10 going on P&P rather than on the product.. that's a bit cheeky selling wise but for 2 cards overall, that's not bad.
