Quality Camera
Possibly one of the best purchases I ever made. The D70 is an excellent product. I used the £100 cashback towards the purchase of a 70-300mm lens and recently added the SB400 flash. All the products are great. I suppose the newer D80 is also a fine Nikon product, but no desire to upgrade as the D70 does everything I want. I've now pensioned off my 35 year old Canon F-1 SLR.

I bought my nikon d70 03/04/04 I had to send it back to nikon for marks on a photo plate 10/12/04 under warranty repair took six weeks. I lost all the display on top window on 23/07/06 only a flashing light on card reader showed any life. Repair will take another six weeks Not under warranty cost £189.00 Fault printed circuit gone down shame on nikon this camera is top gun but you will have to pay to keep it this way so be aware

D70 - a fantastic camera.
Anyone willing to pay the price for a great camera would be well advised to purchase a Nikon D70. I bought mine last year and have taken over 5,000 photos so far. Simply put the results are incredible...the photos I have are really amazing and I must add that I am not exactly a pro-photographer. When my brother saw the results I was getting with the D70 he went out and bought one for himself.
Because it is a digital SLR you can simply chose the photos that you wish to keep, touch them up in Adobe Photoshop and then store them as you wish. The quality of the camera is really excellent...very solid indeed. The 18-70 DX lens is offered as optional and is quite a good lens, but those looking for something better could consider buying a Nikon ED 24-120 VR lens...depending on what you intent to phoograph.
Simply put this camera is brilliant...just make sure you purchase a smart card of at least 512mb. Better still buy several as the price is coming down all the time. The included battery lasts forever...however be careful as when it starts to diminish it goes pretty quick. If you can afford a spars battery then get one.
Finally, while using the AUTO mode is fine for taking excellent photos it is worthwhile experimenting with all the manual settings as this is what photography is all about...being able to manually set your camera settings so as to capture the perfect shot under any circumstance and the D70 will help you do this as you can check your results and learn as yuo go.
