Good camera-with flaws
I've had this camera for about a year and in that time I've got into my photography more and more. On the whole I'm impressed.
The optical zoom is great but needs a steady hand and the self-timer to avoid camera shake. That said I'm considering a tripod now as I do alot of landscape photography. The battery life is pretty poor but other aspects of the camera do make up for it-and AA's are easy to get hold of. The viewfinder is brilliant quite frankly-I love it. It cuts out the glare you get from the normal LCD screen on a bright day and makes you bring the camera close in-reducing wobble, which makes all the difference if you're using half or more zoom.
As a straightforward point and shoot-its fine. If you want to get out and take some good quality outdoor photo's though you need to learn to use it properly. Spend half an hour reading up on the PASM mode and how to use it, then get out and try to put it into practice. It is well worth doing this-once you know what you're doing with it you'll be able to take some spectacular shots.
This is a great camera to introduce you to more advanced photography than just point and shoot and a good stepping stone to a full blown digital SLR.
Easy to use with great results
After researching several camera's, I chose this one and am really happy I did so.
The menu is easy and quick to use so, changing from colour to sepia etc... is very simple. The same can also be said for the dial functions used to change the camera's photographic range, meaning less "faffing" about when time is short. Most of my photo's are landscape/still life and am very pleased with the detail It's been able to capture, especially when using the macro function. The video is also simple to use so is an added bonus.
On the negative side, the shutter release button needs a lot of pressure so ends up shaking the camera, consequently producing a picture not as sharp as hoped. It also eats batteries and does take time to update to the disc. The flash is also a bit too potent but have been able to knock this down when editing my pictures.
On the whole, an easy, comfortable camera to use. I will definitely buy another Kodak again.
awesome quality
having used a lot of different digital cameras and being a photo nut...i was looking very hard for a more professional camera to use and i have to say after a lot of looking, reading positive and negative reviews,i can honestly say that this camera ticks all the boxes for me,superb quality all round and i cant understand the second review on the page about portrait and indoor pictures, the quality is superb, his must have been faulty.adapter rings can be bought for a few pound to convert the camera lens into a 55mm so it can take extra lenses, polarisers etc..you can even add a step up adapter on to that one to convert it into a bigger mm e.g. 58mm. so versatile, can honestly recommend.
