Save your pennies and dont buy this!1
In theory the book is fantastic, in practice it is just poor. Some of the questions featured seem a little ridiculous and many of the answers are pitched in a rather condescending tone. I found that the more I read the book the less I learned from it as I just got increasingly frustrated with it, in addition the question-answer format doesn't work too well as it is divided with the 1st half questions and 2nd half answers, as a result theres a lot of flicking involved and sometimes when the answer given is just "no" you feel a little cheated! There are online subscriptions such as on examination or pastest that work a lot better for revision.

The Miscellania of Medicine- A book full of detailed questions giving candidates an edge in finals4
I really enjoyed using 1000 questions and answers, it fills a little niche in the medical textbook market and provides a good self assessment booklet for clinical level exams in the intricate little questions which are thrown into exams to differentiate between the students than just know the basic core knowledge and those with an in-depth understanding. It should be noted that it is very different from the Kumar and Clark Pass Finals in that it is not the standard run of the mill exam style questions but rather a collection of important and often tricky questions that you often have at the tip of your tongue. I beleived the book was brought about by a complication of questions that students asked the authors of Kumar and Clark over the years, so in that way it really is targetted to what we need as students.

As with the other members of the Kumar and Clark family it lives up to its name with the quality and authority of the content. It is well delineated into the chapters corresponding to Kumar and Clark Clinical Medicine and references are made throughout. Unlike many such self assessment texts the answers are thorough and don't leave you puzzled, in addition , the answers are tidily included at the end of each chapter which is considerably easier that the hassle of flicking back and forwards to the end of the book.

A clever little book which makes for at somewhat lighter bit of revision and exercises you brain to trawl up those little gem details and facts that polish off many exam questions to excel from the average mark. I would highly recommend it for bedtime reading!

A good idea in theory but difficult to use2
I was really excited to review this book and had high hope and expectations. Although the content of the book is both interesting and relevant the layout of the book makes it not user friendly. The chapters correspond with Clinical Medicine - Kumar and Clark, which makes referencing between the 2 straightforward. There is also an excellent index which makes it very easy to find what you are looking for. However being as the book is intended for interest and not to test yourself, I found having all the questions and then all the answers annoying and difficult to use, involving flicking backwards and forwards. I feel it would have been better to have a question followed by its answer.
In conclusion I think the concept of the book if very good, but I think a better layout would make it much more useful and easier to use.
