Synopsis
Michael Gearin-Tosh discovered that he had bone marrow cancer when he was 54. This is the story of his quest to manage and overcome his illness and his determination not to be coerced by specialists, the NHS and even colleagues into joining programmes of invasive treatments. The author selected a number of regimes and devised his own rigorous daily round of juices, vegetables and coffee enemas. Six years on, his extraordinary survival would be classified as a "scientific miracle". But this is not a "how-to" book, rather an account of one man's quest to listen to his own inner voice of intuition in a world so heavily reliant on the certainty that it is the doctors that know best.

A must read book for anybody thinking twice about traditional cancer treatment5
Having just had a bone marrow test and blood transfusion for my very low haemoglobin, to see if my MGUS had progressed to multiple myeloma, I was delighted to receive and read this book. It confirmed what I believed that chemotherapy is not the always the only way. It was just what I needed to strengthen my resolve, not to have the drug treatments if the diagnosis is a bad one.
I have refused to have the test for a long time, I was fairly well (what you do not know cannot hurt you) I knew I would panic with the diagnosis, and trying to tell my long suffering haematologist that I did not want his treatment did not appeal to me.
Michael Gearin-Tosh died in 2005, he refused antibiotic treatment for a tooth infection, it became systemic. He survived 11 years and 1 month after his diagnosis, he worked and was well most of the time. He had been told he had about 18 months. What an inspirational book.

A must for all myeloma sufferers5
I read this book soon after being diagnosed with Myeloma and this was fortunate because it gave me the strength to believe in and act on my own instincts... which were that the medical direction to immediately have chemotherapy was wrong. This book is a good guide to which foods and supplements help strengthen the system but also empowering, in that it helps you to deal with the medical professional attitudes that are very blinkered and think only in terms of destroying the cancer(with chemicals that also destroy healthy tissues) rather than building up the body and having a positive attitude. I have remained stable for two years thanks to Micheal, if I had taken the medical route I would be in a bad way now!

A Compelling Read5
Once I started this book, I couldn't put it down. Gearin-Tosh has a very easy to read style.

All credit to him for doing his own research and not allowing himself to be controlled by the conventional medical establishment.

This just shows that other methods can and do work and I feel that it highlights the need for the role of diet to be taken more seriously - something that conventional medicine does not fully appreciate.

It also demonstrates the fact that prevention can be better than cure.
