Synopsis
One in ten women will develop breast cancer, making it one of the most devastating health problems of our time. However, only a small percentage of women develop the disease as a result of genetic factors. The vast majority of cases - around 90 per cent - are the result of lifestyle factors that are under our control. This groundbreaking book is based on recent research findings, uncovered by specialists at Genesis, the only UK breast cancer charity to specialize in prevention, which show there is a clear connection between breast cancer and diet and exercise. The first part of this book helps readers understand the factors that can lead to the development of breast cancer, and examines in detail why maintaining a healthy weight or losing weight can reduce the risk of breast cancer by as much as 40 per cent. The second section concentrates on diet and features a wealth of delicious recipes, specially created by chef Roy Ackerman, to help you incorporate the diet into your life.

Customer Reviews

Sick of being blamed1
I haven't read this book, Amazon have just recommended it to me based on previous choices.

So why am I writing/how can I write a review? Because I'm shaking with anger. I'm sick and tired of being made to feel guilty and to blame for the disease which may be killing me.

To say 90% of breast cancer cases are a result of lifestyle choices that were under the control of the sufferer is an insult to the thousands of women of all ages, shapes, sizes, levels of fitness and health, diets, and life experiences who have been diagnosed with breast cancer, particularly those many who have died from it.

Nobody knows the causes of breast cancer. Another writer trying to make a fast buck from scaring people into thinking it's down to diet is exactly what we DON'T need. I bet it warns against dairy and meat. I was a vegan for many years before being diagnosed with grade 3 breast cancer with multiple node involvement.

Breast cancer is a hideous disease with gruelling treatments, no 'all-clear' and so far no cure. People do not need to be told - falsely - that they brought it on themselves. No idea whether the authors have breast cancer, they should be the more ashamed of themselves if they have for making people who are already under terrible stress feel guilty and blame themselves for their situation.

Groundbreaking book 5
This groundbreaking book gives a fascinating insight into the factors that can dramatically reduce the risk of both men and women getting breast cancer. Being the only evidence based book on the shelves it is easy to presume that it will be filled with un-helpful facts and figures but for once a book based on research has been published that concentrates on helping the reader.

The book is easy to read and it has fitness advice from Great Britain athlete Diane Modahl and some amazing, easy to prepare recipes by TV chef Silvena Rowe.

It is an essential read to help you kick start changes that you will realise are un-avoidable once you have read the Genesis Breast Cancer Prevention Diet Book. It is streets ahead of any other material available and I will be and would recommend this to every woman out there. After all we are all at risk.
