Manufacturer's Description
Unparalleled performance. Undeniable style.

With its sleek 'Perpetual Curve' contours, the Digital IXUS 700 changes forever notions of what is possible in camera design. Concealing incredible 7.1 Megapixel power and a precision optics 3x zoom, this digital marvel delivers superb images suited for photo quality prints to A3+ size.

Review and share images and movie clips with ease on the large high-definition 2.0" LCD. Night Display mode automatically improves visibility when it is dark, while the user-controlled Quick-bright function lets you frame and review comfortably in low-light conditions. Record and playback extended 30 fps VGA movie clips with sound (up to 1GB files possible). Analyse fast action sequences by recording QVGA quality at 60 fps and watching in slow motion.

Efficient and responsive, the Digital IXUS 700 is powered by a Canon DIGIC II processor. Linking all key camera functions, DIGIC II drives fast auto-focus, outstanding camera performance, quick start-up times and first-class image quality. Like a hidden photographer's assistant, iSAPS uses DIGIC II's power to analyse the scene and optimise key camera settings even before the shutter release is pressed. 14 shooting modes including 9 scene modes combine with a 9-point auto-focus system (AiAF) to deliver consistently brilliant results in every situation.

Create exciting visual effects with My Colors by making favourite colours more vivid, swapping one colour with another, or making all but one area of an image monochrome.

Use the exciting optional 40m depth Waterproof case to capture marine stills and movies while snorkelling and diving, and extend lighting options and your night distance range with the optional High Power Flash.

For instant full colour photos, connect your camera to any PictBridge compatible photo printer and push the Print/Share button. It really is that easy. With a Canon SELPHY CP series printer, you can even print handy ID photo prints and Movie prints.

Canon's ZoomBrowser EX (for Windows) and ImageBrowser (for Macintosh) help you arrange albums, crop photographs and adjust image contrast and brightness. Access to CANON iMAGE GATEWAY gives you 100MB online space for your own personal gallery, for sharing with family and friends.

IXUS 700. Canon have done it again!4
Canon have done it again! A small, compact and light weight camera that is packed full of features. It looks stylish but has an outstanding resolution of 7.1 million pixels. This allows you to use the digital zoom and leaves no graining visible on your photographs. The control panel is easy to understand and use. The shutter lag is virtually non-existant even in low light levels. It's definately a 5 star product, except for the pitiful 32mb SD card that comes with the camera (only 9 photos at 7.1 million pixels!) So you will need to order another card. Amazon also sell a 1 gigabite card which will enable you to take 323 photographs at 7.1 million pixels. The 2 inch screen enables you to view your photographs before using the direct printing function.

Overall a fantastic camera! It out-performed any other camera that I have ever looked at or have owned.

    great camera4
This is a classy compact that takes great pictures. Had it about a week, and am still amazed at the quality of the prints that it generates. Whilst performance for the usual portraits and landscapes is as good as most of the others in the same price range, Macro mode is particularly impressive, with quick focussing and no significant camera shake noticable. Just messing around in my garden I have taken some stunning shots of insects, that I would have really struggled to acheive with other cameras.
Video mode is also a very pleasant surprise. I would disagree with other reviewers who have found the quality to rival that of DV camcorders - the results are nowhere, anywhere near as good as those I get from my Sony DCR - (unless you compare them to the output of the memory stick). So dont be surprised with fuzzy picures and tinny sound - BUT my point is that considering that this is essentially a compact camera, then the quality of the video IS A REAL BONUS.
I have teamed it up with a SanDisk 1GB Ultra card, and they work very well together, and I have taken around 100 pictures and two minutes of video so far without the slightest problem, and everything works very quickly indeed.
Like the previous reviewer, I agree that the PC socket cover is pathetically flimsy, and does not feel that it will last a year. The 32mb card that comes as standard is far too small, and the lack of a case is also a shame. (Although I did actually find a very smart leather case dedicated specifically to this camera in Currys for £20).
All in all I love this camera, its very discrete, classy, and takes great photos, and relatively good video. It doesnt get five stars though for the above reasons.

    Best of the IXUS5
The Canon IXUS 700 surpassed any expectations I had of it. The pictures I have produced from it are sharper than from the IXUS 500 series. It produced amazing clear and brighte images (helped by the brighter flash than it's predecessors) . I have not encountered out of focus instances as some reviews here suggest - just supersharp images of surprising quality from a camera of it's size. I use the digital Macro feature a lot to take close shots, and these have just come out fantastic almost to expensive SLR quality. I would recommend you purchase a bigger SD card - you will use the one supplied in no time. I bought a 1gig card from Amazon for just over £50 (a real bargain). This allows around 9000 low quality images and over 1000 super high quality - and theres up to 20 minutes of movies with sound if you choose! All in all i''ve been extremely impressed with the camera not just in terms of the pictures - but overall build and quality. Only slightly downside is that the casing can be scratched - so do buy a good camera case (I bought the Canon one).
