Good product for the price
I purchased the Sweex 7" Digital Photoframe as a gift for my girlfriend. I decided to try this frame, primarily due to the look of it and its low price. I have been delighted with the product. It looks very modern and perfectly fit her shelf. The frame is able to display pictures from USB stick and from SD cards. I have tried both and work perfect. The display quality is good. There are options to adjust the contrast and brightness so you can set it up as you like. I have not discovered any issues at all. Amazing for the price. The only down side is lack of the battery (mains only). Would highly recommend.
Avoid this one
Got his photoframe a month ago and I'm sure it's definitely the worst deal I made in a long time - unfortunately, I bought it from a local distributor and cannot return it back that easily. The display quality is so bad, I have not seen such poor imaging device in years. The main flaw is that the black color is no way near black, it's light grey instead. No matter how you set the brightness and contrast, the colors are washed away and your pictures look just horrible. On darker pictures it's actually hard to tell faces from the surroundings.
Another strange issue is its USB port - when you plug your USB key in, it gets so incredibly hot in a couple of seconds, you can easily burn your finger on it. The internal memory is so small it's reather useless but it looks like you can't use the USB key with your pictures on it for a long time. Didn't try memory cards with it yet, but I don't believe it'll be any better.
I'd also welcome if those photoframes finally offered battery operation, it'd make much more sense as I believe everybody expects to have the possibility of placing it anywhere on a shelf, where picture frames normally belong. With this device, you are quite limited in this regard and you have to place it near an outlet and have that ugly power cable on your wall.
* update after 3 months: the device completely died, now it will show only a blank white screen when plugged in. What a great product :)
good enough for me
I'm not an expert but the picture quality look's perfectly fine to me. I did look at other digital photo frames and the picture quality was similar but the price was twice or three times as much so I would say this one is good value for money. My only grump is the adaptor wire is to short.
