Third party stormer
Bought 2 of these for my Canon EOS 400d and was amazed. Have found no difference life-span wise when compared to official canon battery supplied with camera. Maybe memory effect might come in to play (although does state it won't) as i've only used them 3/4 times so far but even if they do, at 4 quid or whatever does it matter if after a year the charge is down 20%?
Interestingly, the protective case that covers the underside of the battery (where the contacts are) has a warning on it saying something like "replace cover when battery not in use" is EXACTLY the same as the official canon cover. So for £20 less than official, i can't see any reason not to use 3rd party.
Highly recommended
Added 7th Feb 2008 - one of the 2 batteries of these i bought has given up and will no longer recharge but other one still going strong... Still recommended
Gives the Duracell bunny a run for its money...:-)
Very pleased with the battery. When I first got the battery I left it to charge overnight. The following day I spent some time using the video function of my Canon G7 (640 x 480; 30 fps): the battery lasted for an almost continuous 1 hour and 20 minutes of video (about 10GB of data) which I thought was pretty good going. I have also taken a couple of hundred photos (you know how family gatherings can be...) a week after the battery's last charging session, without an "empty battery" alarm appearing.
At least as good as the original
No problems to date. It's a 900mAh battery as opposed to Canons 720mAh and that should mean you get a 10-15% longer life though it's difficult to be certain of this in practice. Given the differential in price between this and Canons original, you'd have to have a pretty good reason for buying the Canon
