G9 Wide angle lens adapter
Wouldn't be without it. Granted when in use I may as well have my 400D as regards bulk, but that can't be taken to bits and fit in my pocket, not ever. I view this item as a must have for the G9, couldn't live G9 life without it. REQUIRES also Canon Lens Conversion Adapter LA-DC58H for PowerShot G7 & G9- won't fit without it, but can (must) also be used for the telephoto adapter. Finally, this is a wide-angle lens ADAPTER, NOT an actual lens. You get the wide angle effect (speaking in terms of compact cameras), without the internal glass of a "real" lens. So, it's less expensive, but as far as I am concerned it works just fine. Anthony
Great lens. But...
I read as much as I could find about these conversion lenses but nothing prepared me for the sheer size of the glass. It's absolutely massive and weighs almost as much as the camera. The lens actually part covers the built in flash so be careful when using it in low light conditions where even flash coverage is needed.
That said, I am surprised at how good this lens is. It brings a new dimension to my G9 and worth having; even though I now have to take a bag to carry both lens and camera.
Get your facts right.
With reference to the previous review, this most definitely a lens. Canon call it a 'conversion lens', i.e. converting your camera from one thing to another. It's a solid lump of glass.
The 'adaptor' he speaks about is a metal screw on tube, that's a different product altogether.
