Review of Opteka Battery Pack Grip for Canon 450D
Having previously used original Canon battery grips for my Canon 5D and 400D DSLRs, I thought I would 'take a punt' with a non-OEM brand. I chose Opteka as they stated they used the same moulds in the same factory that Canon use to manufacture their grips. Together with this, and the fact it is bundled with 1800mAh batteries, I had nothing to lose! Once delivered, I was EXTREMELY pleased with the build quality of the grip and the moulded rubber skin was even better than Canon's. I have used this for a week now and it is perfect. The moulded rubber skin is much more ergonomic with a softer rubber and a 'divider, between your index and 2nd finger. The grip will now stay on my 450D permanently. I should point out that the electrical contact 'plug' slides a few millimetres left and right. I briefly thought this was a fault, but then I soon realised this is a design feature to faciltate the mating of the camera body contacts -as they are different on the 450D battery, having the external projection.

In summary, a great piece of kit!

Exceptional Value
Does the Opteka company make the BG-E5 for Canon? This is a not-to-be-missed Canon DSLR accessory. Brilliant price, quality is fantastic...feels as good as/better in the hand than Canon's own battery adaptor (which I have handled at Jessops). Textured rubberised finish makes this so pleasantly secure to hold. Quality feel buttons placed as per Canon Battery Grip BG-E5. The two Canon LP-E5 Battery substitutes at 1800mAh make this a bargain. Buy... You wont regret!
