Manufacturer's Description
Ideal for cutting back overgrown bushes and foliage. The ratchet mechanism aids the user when cutting through thicker twigs and branches. A very popular pair of pruners.

Customer Reviews
Yes they work - but
I bought these Secateurs because they incorporate the ratchet mechanism and carried Alan Titchmarsh' name (yes I got sucked in by a celebrity name). My one and only problem with the secateurs is the small green plastic "stopper" which covers the oil reservoir - it keeps coming out. I have managed to find it on 2 occasions, sadly on the 3rd it got lost with the green foliage I had been pruning. Perhaps 2 things should happen a) change the colour of the stopper and b)change the stopper so it won't keep falling out! Other than that irrating gripe the secateurs work very well.
Discussion
This product is excellent. It is the second of this type of secuteur that I have had, the previous one having worn out. I consider this pair equally as strong and marginally a better cutting mechanism. A previous review mentions that the little green oil pad falls out - this is so but as this pad is not part of the mechanism, I leave it out and use an oil spray - much quicker and more effective.
EXCELLENT
These secateurs are absolutely fantastic. We recently lopped down a tree and wanted to compost as much as we could. They go through quite a few levels of thicknesses with ease and leave no jagged edges and the ratchet mechanism makes the job so easy. One note of caution though: don't try and cut loads of items at once without wearing gloves. My hand was covered in blisters, but that was my own fault - I wanted to get the job done as quickly as I could. Excellent buy.
