Product Description

Jim Clark: Life at Team Lotus, it is a feast of previously unseen photographs from the mid-1960s when the Scottish maestro was at the peak of his career. It features over 250 stunning black-and-white photos of the two-times Formula 1 World Champion in action on the track, as well as in and around the paddock during his most successful period 1964 to 1967. All the pictures were taken by Team Lotus official photographer at the time, Peter Darley, and represent some of the very best images from his personal archive. The majority of these images have never been on public view before, and they provide fresh insights into Clark s - and the team s methodology, demeanour and race prep. Every picture tells a story, so they say, and Darley s photographs feature the amiable Scot with team members including Lotus boss Colin Chapman. A wide variety of paddock scenarios, reveal intimate moments and thus the psychology between Team Lotus personnel when relaxing, as well as anxieties in the moments leading up to and during the race.

The ultimate Jim Clark album5
If, like me, Jim Clark was your idol as a schoolboy, then you must not miss this book! The photographs capture brilliantly an age when the skill of the driver was uppermost. A genius like Clark could overcome the deficiencies in a car and bend it to his will, but at the same time he was a quiet, shy man, and this also comes over in the photos, many of which catch him off-guard. Quite simply I've never read another book on Clark that gave me more pleasure and understanding about the man. Peter Darley's skill as a photographer is evident in the way he takes you inside Team Lotus, as if you were a privileged visitor. Not a cheap book, but as they say, the quality will be remembered long after the price has been forgotten. Bravo Peter!

Jim Clark , reliving my memories brilliantly ! 5
If you buy just one book on Jim Clark, let it be this one, a pictorial of Jim's life at Team Lotus from beginning to tragic premature end at that fateful Hockenheim F2 race, when racefans (including me) expected him to drive at Brands Hatch. As a constant spectator at Brands, I witnessed most, if not all of Jim's exploits at the circuit, and official team photographer Peter Darley captures the spirit of the times superbly, you can almost hear the fab four singing "Help!" as you flick through the pages. The book covers Jim's races at the british tracks used in the period of Crystal Palace, Brands Hatch, Goodwood, Silverstone and Oulton Park, a feast for the eyes for all motor racing fans!
