this is a truely beautiful ook and a great red as well. THe photography is just stunning. For anyone interesed in motorsport this is a brilliant read.

Wonderfully evocative.5
Nine of Europe's greatest lost racetracks; AVUS, Masaykring, Nurburgring Sudschleife, Brooklands, Crystal Palace, Keimola, Montlhery, Monza and Reims are both remembered in their prime, and revisited today as crumbling temples of speed.
Featuring glorious period images and the breathtaking contemporary photography of Gavin D. Ireland, this is one of the most atmospheric books I have ever read. From ghostly encounters between long dead speed aces and local youths on the moss covered banking at Brooklands, to the derelict sixties architecture of Finnish track Keimola, now engulfed by pine forests and all but forgotten.
Also featured are haunting images of Nazi officers marvelling at the streamlined Auto Union of Bernd Rosemeyer screaming around the sweeping brickwork banking at AVUS in Berlin, and of the tranquil park that London's own racetrack at Crystal Palace was destined to become.
If you love entertaining and informative motor racing history together with beautiful photography you will love this book.

I've had the privilege of seeing some of Mr. Irelands work and it is, quite simply, stunning. His photos are evocative and striking and sometimes hauntingly simple- if the photos used for this book are even remotely as good as what he's produced already, then this is going to be a treasure worth waiting for.
