A must-own classic motor racing film
If only there had been more motor racing documentary/films made like this.
Anyone interested in this period of Motorsport should definitely consider this DVD. This has great behind-the-scenes and on-track footage of the 1972 sports car season complete with early seventies groovy music soundtrack.
In particular the Targa Florio and Le Mans coverage is superb and a real reminder of a time when Motorsport was far more treacherous and daring than in today's safety conscious world.
There are also some amusing candid scenes with the drivers. One classic moment finds the Ferrari team lazing by a pool swapping stories - the late great Ronnie Peterson tells Andretti, Redman and Ickx about a bee flying on to his nose just before he can drop his visor right at the start of a race, resulting in a frantic swishing of his hand while he should've been concentrating on getting off the line safely!
Even at £16.99 this is well worth the purchase.
Fantastic insight into the glory days of motor racing
This documentary provides an amazing insight into an era of motor racing that was evocative and alluring, not to mention very dangerous, through the eyes of some of the greatest drivers of their time. This film is very real and very GOOD.
Almost Unique - A 70s Motor Racing Documentary That Is Not Cheesy
Great for various reasons - footage of the cars racing and intelligent driver interviews being just two of them - this is a great movie for fans of the era, fans of modern racing wanting to learn what the good old days were like and as a companion to the book (also great) of the same name.
Highly watchable even by non-expert fans, this is one of the best motor racing films ever.
