Synopsis
This title offers a breakthrough approach for a good night's sleep - with no tears. There are two schools of thought for encouraging babies to sleep through the night: the hotly debated Ferber technique of letting the baby "cry it out," or the grin-and-bear-it solution of getting up from dusk to dawn as often as necessary. If you don't believe in letting your baby cry it out, but desperately want to sleep, there is now a third option, presented in Elizabeth Pantley's sanity-saving book "The No-Cry Sleep Solution". Pantley's successful solution has been tested and proven effective by scores of mothers and their babies from across the United States, Canada, and Europe.Based on her research, Pantley's guide provides you with effective strategies to overcoming naptime and nighttime problems. "The No-Cry Sleep Solution" offers clearly explained, step-by-step ideas that steer your little ones toward a good night's sleep - all with no crying.
From the Back Cover
"At long last, I've found a book that I can hand to weary parents with the confidence that they can learn to help their baby sleep through the night--without the baby crying it out."
--William Sears, M.D., Author of The Baby Book
"When I followed the steps in this book, it only took a few nights to see a HUGE improvement. Now every night I'm getting more sleep than I've gotten in years! The best part is, there has been NO crying!"
--Becky, mother of 13-month-old Melissa
A breakthrough approach that offers hope to exhausted parents looking for gentle ways to help their baby sleep without the heart-wrenching tears.
Are you suffering through sleepless nights and having to fend off a barrage of heartless advice about letting your baby "cry it out"? The No-Cry Sleep Solution will show you how it is entirely possible and within your grasp to help your baby fall asleep peacefully--and stay asleep all night long.
Until now the only two ways to deal with sleepless nights were to let your baby cry herself to sleep or to become a sleep-deprived martyr and tough it out from dusk until dawn. At last, there is a practical and effective third way, thanks to Elizabeth Pantley, a parent educator and mother of four. Pantley is like a best friend who's been there and is full of caring advice to help you and your baby get a good night's sleep. Her ten-step will lead you through the process one day at a time by:
- Shedding new light on your baby's sleep patterns and helping you set realistic goals
- Showing you how to analyze, assess, and improve your baby's sleep patterns using sleep logs
- Offering a variety of sleep solutions that fit every parenting style, whether you cosleep with your baby or she sleeps in a crib or whether you breastfeed or bottlefeed
- Creating a tear-free customized sleep plan that works for both you and your baby
- Don't let sleep deprivation keep you from enjoying your baby. The No-Cry Sleep Solution is full of reassuring advice and words of wisdom from other parents who have had success with the program. It will give you the tools you need to effectively and gently reach your goal--a good night's sleep for everyone.
Customer Reviews
best book Ive read and Ive read alot!
Brilliant! Finally a book that reassures you that you dont need to "teach" your baby anything, just love them and let them grow up at their own pace. My daughter sleeps well now and every morning wakes up so excited to see our faces.
Creating meaningful sleep associations - it works!
I bought this book when my son was 4 months old - the first time we experienced issues with his sleep, I applied some of the techniques and bingo! within a week we were sleeping peacefully again.
However, as children grow and develop so do their habits and after a spell of being poorly my son got into a habit of sleeping with me whilst he was ill. The illness passed the sleeping habit did not! So I re-visited the book. I filled in all the logs this time, which was a quick and simple way of finding out what I could do differently. It's tempting to rush in and look for solutions ( I know you're tired you want an instant result), I learnt to be patient and importantly to have faith that things will improve. At 17 months it took a little longer for my son to get back into a sleep routine which meant he slept all night. It was all about wearing a new habit and Pantley shows you just how to do this by creating new sleep associations be it a lovey/comforter, familiaristion with sleeping area, music. Have faith it does work!
Excellent, long-term results
I first used the ideas from this book with my daughter, who has special needs. The moment I picked up the book, it made so much sense to me--to change a habit carefully, step by step, rather than trying to quit what we'd been doing since birth "cold turkey." It took several months of patient work, but it was worth it. Every book I read tells me that children with her needs generally sleep poorly, but my daughter sleeps all night, every night. She is well-rested and that makes her better able to face her challenges and learn and grow. Since my son was born I haven't worried about his sleep because I knew I could count on this book--and indeed, he is also learning how to sleep well. With patience, this book provides excellent long-term results and many peaceful nights.
