MOVIE HISTORY
This is a great value album, beautifully packaged. Although most of the music is available elsewhere, it is the extras that are fascinating - rehearsal takes and alternative mixes as well as some cheesy US promos. The packaging is superb, done to look like a 7" single and is first class. Liner notes (by Lewry and Goodall) are as comprehensive as ever. Thanks EMI - can we have some more, please?
We're All Going On A Summer Holiday
This version of the Summer Holiday film soundtrack was released to mark the 40th anniversary and includes all the original 16 tracks digitally remastered along with 10 bonus tracks made up of film versions and alternate takes. The booklet contains behind the scenes information, photos, recording data and related discography (this review refers to the CD Special Version)
Not Quite Excellent, but Very Close !!!
I recently bought this CD, after watching the superb film again. Just a little dissapointed that some of the tracks were not the original soundtrack, namely 'seven days to a holiday','a swingin' affair' & 'really waltzing'. This did detract from the overall enjoyment. However, that aside, this is still a Superb CD from a Great musical. Anyone who hasn't seen the film is missing a treat, even if Cliff is not your 'cup of tea'. The 'novelty' tracks on the CD, which are 'summer holiday advertising EP part 1 & 2' (americanisation !!!), did not need to be included. Especially at the expence of the original soundtrack items, as mentioned previosly. Still worth buying though.
