Customer Reviews
Not what I was hoping for
Was expecting alot after reading the reviews here. I Was hoping for something that would give rigorous training tips, practical self defense theory and technique which could be applied in a real world scenario.
This book does have some useful informtion for beginners and this information should have been expanded on in depth instead of just a small paragraph given to every principle surrounded by over large pictures to take up the space
It is meant as a companion for beginners to taking classes in kapap, which is fine, but that should of been put on the cover.Pages 80 -87 are made up predominantly of pictures of people throwin a medicine ball to each other!!?
Unfortunately this book is taken up by 90% filler pictures and small tidbits written around them, whilst this info is good,it has no substance or heart
Kapap Combat Concepts
There are currently very few KAPAP books or DVD's about, most of them are Krav Maga, they are not the same. This book starts with an introduction to the background to KAPAP and its evolution. There are then sections on various aspects of KAPAP - warming up, fitness, striking and practice drills, and, of course, hand to hand (including locks and restraints) and ground techniques (with John Machado). The Techniques in the book also include Knife and Stick defence/fighting aswell. One thing that impresses here is that the book not only shows you a disarm/defence, it also gives examples of how not to defend certain attacks. One of the best parts of the book is the introduction to Relative Position, a very useful concept. Overall a good introduction to KAPAP that is only bettered by the DVD collection produced by Avi.
Kapap Combat Concepts
What a fantastic book!! This book is the 1st I've read that doesn't try to baffle me with B.S. It just comes staight to the point by telling me that if I ever have to defend myself in any situation,I stand a far better chance of being able to do so,if I can learn the Principles of Kapap-Relative Position,Two Points of Contact & Balance Displacement. No fancy kicks,Punches or get out of jail free cards, just plain talking, reality based knowledge. So if you want to learn real Self Defence Principles, that not only make sense but when tried and then trained,Work,BUY this book.
