Editorial Reviews
CD Description
This is a hard, heavy rock album with Juliette Lewis' personality stamped all over it. With the addition of Dave Grohl on the drums, The Licks shape up to be a band to be reckonedwith. Dave's influence is strong, but instead of being completely overwhelming, it actually enhances the sound and shows why he's one of the best drummers in the world. Unlike some other movie stars turned band members (Keanu Reeves/JohnnyDepp), Juliette proves with this album that it can be done successfully and gives herself status as a rock goddess.
Customer Reviews
Must have album from one of Hollywood's greatest!
I have always been a huge fan of Juliette Lewis. After seeing films such as Cape Fear, Hysterical Blindness and The Other Sister, she quickly became one of my favorite Actors. The wide range of unique roles she has played justifies her status as one of Hollywood's premiere stars. So when I read that Ms. Lewis was to put on her rock boots, I was keen to see if her talents reached beyond the realm of Acting, and I was so pleased to see that they do.
If I am honest, I was always willing to give Juliette more of my attention as an emerging Musician. However, after listening to her first two albums, "..Like a Bolt of Lightning" and "You're Speaking my Language" I was a solid fan, and by that stage had her in my list of favorite artists.
Hence I was hoping so much that "Four on the Floor" wouldn't be a disappointment. Unsurprisingly, the album is probably my favorite album of recent times. There isn't one weak track in the ten track compilation, but for me, the best tracks are "Purgatory Blues", "Death of a Whore" and "Killer". "Four on the Floor" is a much more energetic album than The Licks previous releases. "..Like a Bolt of Lightning" was the rock solid prelude of what fans could expect from one of today's most promising bands. This album was followed by the wonderful "You're Speaking my Language", which conveyed a wider range of unique and distinguished tracks, showcasing The Licks' true ability as punk rock Musicians. And now, they've delivered yet another landmark album. Juliette and The Licks have shown nothing much determination and raw emotion in their Music, and they deserve for their music to be listened to, and appreciated.
Watch this space.
Amazing Album!
I was reccomended by a friend to check out their album so i listened to it online and thought WOW this is some good stuff! The next day i went and bought the album along with their EP and previous album, reated myself to the new single also!
I have to say this is one of the best albums ive heard in a while, absolute genious! If i could rate this album 100 i would, definatley something to listen to :D
REAL music rocks on.
Having heard that the former actress turned her back on a successful career in Hollywood to launch a singing career left me feeling somewhat sceptical with a feeling of dread of what was to come ... however, having stumbled across this album and having curiousity get the better of me I decided to pay up and get it. REAL MUSIC LIVES. I am blown away by the energy this band radiates. If like me you needed a nudge before you woke up to the talent that is Juliette and the Licks . . then watch and listen for yourself on www.fabchannel.com and see them in concert. It is free and legal to do so. Happy listening. This would get 10 Amazon stars!
