Painter ELEVEN for Photographers - Photo to Art.
Honestly, I couldn't believe it - I absolutely loved the previous version, Painter X for Photographers , and recommended it all over the place but this is even better! Anyone who is is keen on photography and would like to get creative and make photo in to artwork - -portraits in pastel, landscapes in oils, in fact any art material you could think about - Its all there! It's the kind of book you can just go to any chapter you fancy and learn a mine of information through text and illustration. The pictures are larger in the this latest book and you can immediately see what each brush effect would be before you commit to using it. The new brushes in Painter 11 sound fabulous and would make any photo in to a work of art. Chapter 1 shows how to get started and makes easy reading for the beginner - the basic techniques and tools before you go on to the creative bit - illustrated projects that explore different art media. The addition in this book of making a montage/poster/ using layers, is very useful and will appeal to a lot of photographers. I belong to a photo club and I know many of the members will jump at this book - many who will be also interested in the chapter on the more technical aspects of ColourManagement. What's really grabbing me is the included DVD which has videos of some of the projects showing realtime "how to do". (Love the Digital WaterColour Cloning of the Horse!) There are masses of Tutorials and other folders as well to look at. For PC and Mac users. I use a Mac and there was even an Alias to click on for OSX users so that was good.
The foreword is written by a fabulous Photo Artist called Marilyn Sholin - look her up - if SHE recommends - well grab it!
