Synopsis
Inspired by car-chase movies 'The Great Race' and 'Those Magnificent Men In Their Flying Machines', the animated series follows the adventures of a group of eccentric characters in equally outlandish automobiles as they compete in a no-holds-barred, cross-country motor race. Leading the pack are the fiendish Dick Dastardly and his canine sidekick Muttley, whose all-encompassing bid for victory involves underhand tactics such as oil slicks and detours.
Customer Reviews
Here's a game you can all play
Wacky Races, like most things from my childhood, wasn't perhaps quite as good as I remember it being, but it did lead to one of the most fun nights of my life with a group of friends and copious quantities of alcohol...
You know those race nights you get when someone buys in footage of obscure horse races from somewhere far away and everybody bets on them? Well, you can do exactly the same with this DVD! Simply decide who you're backing (or, better still, pull the names of the cars out of a hat - no one is exactly going to pick Dick Dastardly of their own accord, are they?), pick a random episode and away you go! No cheating now...the names of the winners do appear on the internet, suggesting an even greater need to randomise which cars everyone's backing!
Come on the Creepy Coupe! I've got a fiver on you!
childhood revisited
on the pretence of buying this for our son, my husband and I (and newly converted son) chortled away for ages revisiting our childhood. Even better than it was when we were kids!
Still wacky, not "wack".
I've very much enjoyed watching this dvd with my daughter, who finds it hilarious. Me too, at times, watching the exploits of messrs Dastardly, Muttley, Professor Pat Pending et al. Plus Penelope Pitstop, the Ant Hill Mob in their bullet-proof bomb and Blubber Bear in the Arkansaw Chuggerbug.
