The Algarve is one of southern Europe's most popular destinations. Blessed with fine weather, sweeping beaches and a dramatically picturesque interior, the region attracts many different visitors, from second-homers to golf fanatics to windsurfers. The Rough Guide map is designed to help get the most from a trip to the area, whatever your interests – there are footpaths and contour lines for those on foot and details of petrol stations and road surfaces for those travelling by the road. As with all the maps in the Rough Guides series, this map is made of rip-proof, waterproof Polyart™ paper, durable enough to survive trips spent in the car seat-back, rucksack and café table-top.

Customer Reviews
Used by the locals !
Do not buy the tourist maps available when you arrive, they are old, the wrong scale and no good for finding your way around the countryside. We live on the Algarve and use this map. I have recommended it to many others and all find it extremely good. No map is bang up to date and this one is the best we have found. The contours and spot heights are clearly shown. Get away from the, admittedly gorgeous, beaches and explore the hills and villages inland with this map. If you want only tarmac roads, stay at home !
Don't count on this map
Just got back from the Algarve.
This map is ok if you just want a rough (no pun intended) idea of what the Algarve looks like.
It claims to have contour lines, well I didn't find any.
It certainly does not show road surfacing, tracks can be tarmacked and roads can be tracks as for finding your way using the map forget it! The mapping of the roads around towns is appalling and secondary roads are not in the right place.
As I haven't seen any other maps I cannot say that this is worse than others on the market, just that it isn't very good!
Regular Visitor to Algarve
Having been a regular visitor to the Algarve for many years my poor old map didn't even show motorways and had fallen to pieces. This new one is rip and would appear to be waterproof. Very pleased with the quality also speed it was delivered and the price. This seems to be the most up to date version you can get anywhere as they don't seem to publish new ones yearly like lots of other countries.
